RE: ICW fails & No mail is sent or delivered

Hi Keith,

Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.

From your description, I understand the issue to be: you have reinstalled
IIS and ISA server and now the email server can not work. If I am off base,
please don't hesitate to let me know.

Based on my knowledge, reinstall IIS on the server that is also running
Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, you have
to reinstall Exchange at the same time to restore links to IIS that provide
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and Outlook Web Access (OWA)
functionality. You can refer to the following KB article to view detail
steps:

320202 How to Remove and Reinstall IIS and Exchange
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=320202

And how you reinstall the IIS? I suggest that you take a look at the
following article to check steps to reinstall IIS server in SBS 2003
environment.

887305 How to re-install Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 in Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=887305

After you reinstall the Exchange server, please re-run CEICW to test again.
And let me know the result.

If the issue persists, please help me collect the following information to
isolate the issue:

1. Do you receive any error message when running CEICW wizard? If yes,
please help me capture a screen shot of error messages.

2. When you try to add rule to ISA server, what is the exact error message
you received? please help me capture a screen shot of error messages.

3. What is version of the SBS server? Is it SBS 2003 or SBS 2003 SP1? If it
is SBS 2003 SP1, after you reinstalled Exchange, ISA, you need reapply the
SBS 2003 SP1.

4. Please mail me the log for analyze: The icwlog.txt file in the "%Program
Files%\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Support" folder.

Please add all files to a zip file and mail me at: v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope above information helps! I am happy to be of assistance to you and
look forward to your reply.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

Hi, I've had loads of problems since sunday, I have had to reinstall IIS
and
ISA2004, when I run the icw it fails on the firewall setup part, and the
email config part. all users can browse the web etc, the firewall client
is
working fine, outlook clients can logon to exchange and see all their
mail,
but no new mail is coming in to their inboxes and no mail is being sent
out,
internal or external, nothing is stuck in queues they're all empty. Also
all
the filters and rules I had before in ISA arent there now, they where all
the
default ones from a standard install, but the reinstall didn't put them
in,
another thing when i'm trying to add rules it comes up with an error that
mmc
has caused an error and i have to close it down. Has antone got any ideas
to
bail me out apart from wiping it clean and doing a complete reinstall.
TIA
Keith
