Maybe Someone could advise me on this... I have started the process of
auto-archiving... I have moved about 6 to 8GB into PST files... The problem
is the exchange store has not reduced in size at all... Do I need to restart
the store or is there something else I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Sasha

This is a good news /bad news situation. Go to.
http://www.microsoft.com/office/orkarchive/2003ddl.htm and get the download
called "Office 2003 Policy Template Files and Deployment Planning Tools."
Get the ADM files (group policy templates) and install the Outlook 2003 ADM
in a new GPO that you create for this purpose. You'll find the auto archive
settings in that ADM. Post back if you have questions about how to do this
after reading the info that comes with the download.
The bad news is, Microsoft does not support the use of PST files over a
network. There are issues of performance and, more importantly, data
corruption. You can probably figure out a system to auto-archive the files,
then copy the archive.pst files to a network share for backup or other
purposes, while having the users work off a locally installed copy. I have
briefly used a PST over a network while in the middle of a project where I
was temporarily working from two offices, but I would definitely not
recommend it for anything I considered a production environment.
By the way, if you familiarize yourself with the use of those ADM templates
from the Office Resource Kit, you'll find you're able to eliminate 99% of
any manual Office configuration you're doing currently.

I've come to the conclusion that I need to use archived folders more.
However, I want these archived .pst folders to be saved to a network share
so that I never have to dig again to find someone's archive.pst file.
Is there a way to set the archive settings for a user using gpo/exchange,
including how often and where the archive.pst should be stored?
