Hi
So I have done, by putting the DNS in the NIC on the workstation to run the
wizard. The server is not enabled for DHCP so only the router is doing DHCP,
so I have hard coded the DNS address from the server on the workstation NIC.
This enables me to run the wizard until the last step where I get this
error.
And I do not know what to do more to get past this error.
Thanks

I read through the whole posting again and your last paragraph in your last
email made me realize what you are really asking.
When you have 2 sources with DHCP enabled in your subnet, your computers
can get to either one of them. In your case, if they get first to the
router they will not get the proper DNS record. But if they get to your
SBS server it will supply the correct DNS record along with the IP
address. You should always have only one DHCP server on your subnet and
you should make sure that this DHCP server also supplies the correct DNS
address. Otherwise you need to "hardcode" the DNS on each client.

yes, but still I have the same error as mention in subject line here with
server that only has 1 NIC as well? and has been running clients
successfully in the past, just when trying to connect a brand new pc now
I get this error.
And it occurs on 2 different servers now with 1 and 2 NIC's respectively.
Before I could always leave the IP settings to auto on the clients when
connecting them up and now all the sudden I must put a DNS setting on
client machine in order for them to see the servers in the 1st place even
when server is DHCP enabled.
Just does not make sense.

Well I can only restate what I said before. And there is no way that a
client box will ever see the server without a DNS or WINS entry.
If you have only one NIC on the server, then of cause you have only one
subnet.

Hi
I have in fact another SBS running exactly the same with same subnets,
but the IP range is different and it is a DHCP server, but the same
subnets did not cause any problems.
Might be some update or something, cause another SBS only has 1 NIC
again at another property and I had the same problem there as well. It
must be something that update wise maybe that happened afterwards as I
am yet to resolve that one as well.
Previous client computers had no problem connecting, I also never had
to put the DNS on the client NIC in order to run the wizard, but now I
have to otherwise it would not even see the server.
More ideas?
Thanks

Your setup will not work if you don't assign different subnets to the
LAN and WAN (ISP) NICs on your SBS.
If you want to use only wireless in your office I would recommend that
you split the setup. Use a normal ADSL router for your ISP connection
and plug the WAN NIC directly into it. Use a static IP for that (i.e.
192.168.10.1 for the WAN NIC and 192.168.10.254 for the router).
Then use your wireless router and configure it for the LAN network
(i.e. 192.168.20.1). You can have it act as the DHCP as long as you
make sure that it will supply the SBS LAN IP (static IP and excluded
from the DHCP) as the DNS and Gateway.
Example:
ADSL Router outside: DHCP of your ISP or whatever IP they supply
ADSL Router inside: 192.168.10.254, Subnet: 255.255.255.0 GW the
outside IP,
WAN NIC SBS: 192.168.10.1, Subnet: 255.255.255.0 GW 192.168.10.254 DNS
192.168.20.1
LAN NIC SBS: 192.168.20.1, Subnet: 255.255.255.0 GW blank DNS
192.168.20.1
Wireless Router on LAN: 192.168.20.254, Subnet: 255.255.255.0 GW
192.168.20.1
DHCP Range: 192.168.20.100-200 with the correct GW and DNS
I hope this helps,
Claus

Hi
No I do not have SBS on the laptop as you can see from the IP
addresses.
I can not do different subnets either as the SBS is not the DHCP
server and I use wireless in the office, so the wireless router gives
the DHCP.
Any other suggestions on hoe to configure this set up?
1 - wireless ADSL Router - DHCP
1 - LAN NIC on SBS
1 - ISP NIC on SBS.
Thanks

Does this mean you have the SBS on this laptop?
If those 2 NIC cards shown below are supposed to be WAN and LAN for
SBS, you need to configure them with different subnets.

Hello
I have read and done all of the following and nothing has helped so
far:
1. Added server DNS manually to local NIC on laptop.

7. Disabled all other Network cards on Laptop.
8. Restarted server.
9. Ran Internet and email wizards again and again.
10. The server is not the DHCP server as I have a wireless router
and other offices connected seperately, so the ADSL Router is doing
the DHCP, server has its own static IP's.
What more can I try and do please, I have read so many
solutions/options and nothing gets me past the last screen that
gives me the
