Hi Guys, i have tried the above ideas, but i still cannot access the folder
from either the workstation or the server. I think that it is something to
do with an old SID that mayb preventing me from accessing the documents.
Any further tips?

Hi Andy,.
Thanks for posting here.
From your post, my understanding on this issue is: you redirect My
Documents locate on network, but it don't work. If I am off base, please
feel free to let me know.
Based on my knowledge, please double check the correct steps redirect My
Document folder to a specified server. To do so, please refer to the
following steps:
Step 1: Create Share folder on specified server
==============================
When configuring the permission of the destination folder, you may refer to
the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles:
Redirecting My Documents to a Subfolder Produces Unexpected Permissions
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=273842
Enabling the Administrator to Have Access to Redirected Folders
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=288991
Step 2: Enable Folder Redirect policy
=======================
After creating share folder, you will need to enable folder redirect policy
so that the My Document folder will be redirected to the new destination.
For more detailed steps to enable the specific GPO item, you can refer to
the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
Redirecting the My Documents Folder for All Users in Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=216463
If the issue persists, please reconfigure its NTFS permission per the
following:
- Assume the server name is SERVER, the share name is SHAREDOC and the user
name is user01. Then the My Documents folder is \\SERVER\SHAREDOC\user01\My
Documents.
1. Locate the folder on the server.
2. Right-click on "user01" and then select "Properties".
3. Click the "Security" tab.
4. Remove all the entries except the ones for the user using this folder
and SYSTEM.
5. Grant the following permission:
Domain\user01 Allow: FULL CONTROL
SYSTEM Allow: FULL CONTROL
6. Click "OK" to apply.
Thus, only the user uses this Domain\user01 who owns the folder can access
this folder. SYSTEM is added for local system maintenance. For more
information on NTFS permission configuration, please refer to the following
article:
325361 HOW TO: Configure Security for Files and Folders on a Network in
Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=325361
I hope the above information helps.
Have a nice day.
Best Regards,
Steven Zhu
