Re: remove cached credencials

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

This is somewhat unnussual. As far as I know, if you log onto a pc that is
not a member of the domain, then attempt to access a domain resource...you
will, at that time, be prompted for domain credentials. Those domain
credentials will remain cached until the pc is rebooted or the local user is
logged off. This is by design otherwise EVERY request to that domain
resource during that session will result in prompting for domain
credentials. If you have mapped a drive using domain credentials, simply
disconnect the mapped drive, log off and log back on, and you should be
prompted again when you atempt to access the domain resource. Hope this
helps.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for taking time to answer my question, I try it but it didn't
work. Probably I didn't discribe my question very clear. There is one
stand
alone computer (in workgroup) in the same network with the domain, the
first
time I open some shared resource in the domain it ask me for credencials,
so
I input my account and pasword which is member of domain admins, maybe I
select the option "save this user name and password" by accident because
later when I reconnect to shares in the domain it never ask about the
credencials again. So I need you help me to make sure it ask for the
credencial again because this stand alone computer is a shared common
computer. Thank you very much.

Group Policy
Interactive logon: Number of previous logons to cache (in case domain
controller is not available).
This policy setting is found under:
Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local
Policies -> Security Options
It is set to 10 by default in the Local Security Policy of Windows 2000
or
later machines.
Keep in mind.....if no domain controller is available at log on, you will
not be able to log on the machine.

When I connect to a default share like C$ I must use administrator
account's
credential, after I disconnect then reconnect again NT never ask me
again
the
user's credential and use the cached one.
How can I forbit xp from providing the cached credentials ??
