Hi Crina,
It will take a couple of days before I can get this information for you. I
can, however confirm the following:
1. No. Password had expired due to policy settings (90-day expiry).
2. No. User is not prompted to change password every time he RDPs to PC.
Regards,
Bill

Hi Bill,
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
To narrow down the problem, would you please help me collect the following
information?
1. Have you forced the account to change password at every logon? You can
check as following:
1) Right click the user account and select Properties.
2) Click Account tab, check if you have selected User must change password
at next logon on Account options column.
2. Do the client receive the change password prompt every time he RDPs to
LAN client computer of SBS? What was the detailed information the Prompt
box displayed? What is the error message he received when he changed the
password remotely?
3. Can you do some tests to isolate the issue?
1) Logon to his laptop using his local administrator and then RDP to the
LAN client computer using Domain Administrator, does the situation occur?
Try to RDP to another client computer or SBS, does the situation occur?
2) Does the situation occur if you RDP to the client computer from LAN of
SBS?
3) Does the situation occur if you RDP to the client computer from other
laptop using the same account?
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)

| I have a user who frequently takes his notebook PC home and RDPs to a PC
on
| the LAN. It seems that everytime a password change is due he gets the
| notification when he attempts to connect via RDP. He attempts to change
his
| password but cannot. He just gets a message that the domain is
unavailable.
| I had to set his password to never expire so he could log on. After
such
a
| failure to change his password he cannot log on while connected directly
to
| the LAN either. I checked his account and it looks OK. He is not
getting
| locked out. He is a knowledgeable user so I'm pretty sure he is not
doping
| anything wrong. He is also the CEO so there isn't a worse person for
this
| to happen to :( This does not happen to any other accounts. Is there
| something about changing passwords when RDP-ing that is a bit flaky?
Any
| clues would be gratefully received.
