Further to my item 3 below, I tried this again: de-selected Calendar on the
phone, waited for a while and then re-selected it.
The sync went though a change review process and identified something like
202 calendar items and appeared to copy them across to the phone (starting at
0/202 with a blue band moving across the bottom). The process seemed to be
over very quickly (over a GPRS connection now) but once again none of the
items in the server calendar appear on the phone calendar. It is as though
the items are not moving across at all or are moving across but for some
reason are not visible.
On my item 4 below, I noticed that the time on the phone looks correct which
would suggest to me that the phone automatically changes for BST.
I have looked at the Activesync logs on the phone but can't really make any
sense of them.

Hi, Thanks for posting here. From your post, my understanding on this issue
is: you can sync the calendar from the phone to the exchange server, but you
cannot sync calendar from the exchange server to the phone. If I am off base,
please feel free to let me know. Based on current information and my test,
the behavior you encountered is not expected. Basically all appointments in
Calendar Folder will be pushed to PPC during certain interval. In order to
narrow down the issue, let's follow the tests below to verify whether it is a
user account issue, PPC issue or Outlook issue.
Test 1: Please create another mailbox-enabled user; and access this mailbox
in original problematic Outlook workstation, create a new appointment in
Calendar Folder and verify whether Exchange Server pushes it to smart phone.
I HAVE CREATED A NEW USER ON THE SERVER AND OUTLOOK PROFILE ON THE SAME
WORKSTATION AS YOU HAVE SUGGESTED BUT I AM UNABLE TO CREATE AN ACTIVESYNC
PROFILE FOR THE NEW USER IN THE PHONE. IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO OVERWRITE THE
EXITING USER NAME.
Test 2: Please locate anther Outlook workstation to access this original
problematic mailbox; create a new appointment in Calendar Folder and verify
whether Exchange Server pushes it to smart phone.
NOT YET-SEE ITEM 4 BELOW.
Test 3: Please locate anther smart phone with Windows Mobile 5.0 and
Messaging Security Feature Pack (MSFP); enable Direct Push for this new smart
phone with original problematic mailbox; access this mailbox in original
problematic Outlook workstation, create a new appointment in Calendar Folder
and verify whether Exchange Server pushes it to new smart phone.
NOT YET-I WILL HAVE TO LOCATE ANOTHER PHONE.
Test 4: Please access this problematic mailbox by OWA; create a new
appointment in Calendar Folder and verify whether Exchange Server pushes it
to smart phone. Please let me know the results at your earliest convenience.
I HAVE CREATED A NEW CALENDAR ENTRY USING OWA BUT IT STILL DOES NOT COME
ACROSS TO THE PHONE. WOULD THIS NOT SUGGEST THAT IT IS NOT AN OUTLOOK PROBLEM?
I SHOULD ALSO EXPLAIN THE FOLLOWING:
1. PRIOR TO GETTING THE NEW ROM UPDATE FOR THE PHONE THIS PAST WEEK (WHICH
INCLUDES MSFP) AND IMPLEMENTING DIRECTPUSH WHICH AS I SAID EARLIER WORKS
PERFECTLY FOR EMAIL, CONTACTS AND CALENDAR FROM THE PHONE TO THE
SERVER/OUTLOOK, I RAN ACTIVESYNC ON THE PHONE MANUALLY. WHEN I INITIALLY SET
ACTIVESYNC UP IT DID BRING SOME OF THE CALENDAR ITEMS OVER (BUT NOT ALL) AND
THEN THEREAFTER NO NEW ITEMS ENTERED IN OUTLOOK I.E. ONLY FROM THE PHONE TO
THE SERVER/OUTLOOK. I EXAMINED THE ITEM THAT DID COME ACROSS CAREFULLY AND
THERE WAS NOTHING TO DISTINGUISH THEM FROM THOSE THAT DID NOT.
2. INSTALLING THE NEW ROM MEANT A COMPLETE DELETION OF THE EXISTING DATA ON
THE PHONE AND I HAVE HAD TO RUN A NEW SYNC PROCESS FROM SCRATCH. DURING THE
INITIAL SYNC I DID NOT SEE ANY CALENDAR ITEMS COMING ACROSS ALTHOUGH I WAS
NOT WATCHING IT CLOSELY ALL THE TIME. I DID THE INITIAL SYNC OVER A WIRELESS
LAN CONNECTION.
3. I THEN TRIED SOMETHING. I DE-SELECTED CALENDAR FROM THE LIST OF ITEMS TO
BE SYNCED ON THE PHONE LEFT IT FOR A WHILE A THEN RE-SELECTED IT AND DID A
MANUAL SYNC. THIS TIME IT SEEMED TO IDENTIFY CALENDAR ITEMS FOR SYNCING
(BLUE BAR ALONG THE BOTTOM) BUT THEY STILL NEVER APPEARED IN THE CALENDAR ON
THE PHONE. AS INDICATED EARLIER, CALENDAR ITEMS ENTERED ON THE PHONE ARE
BEING PUSHED TO THE SERVER.
4. MY OUTLOOK IN NOW RUNNING ON BRITISH SUMMER TIME (GMT+1?) BUT I DO NOT
SEE ANY PLACE TO SET THIS UP ON IN MOBILE 5.
5. I HAVE ACTIVATED VERBOSE LOGGING ON THE PHONE. WOULD THIS NOT BE ABLE TO
TELL US WHAT IS GOING ON.
6. I READ SOMEWHERE THAT THERE IS A FILE ON THE SERVER WHICH TRACKS ALL THE
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE SERVER AND THE PHONE. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THIS HAS
SOMEHOW BEEN CORRUPTED?
Additionally for further test, please temporarily disable SSL if you enable
it for ActiveSync; create a new test account and let me know the following
information. - Credential of this test account - The public URL of your
Exchange Server - Domain name I will access the mailbox by ActiveSync Direct
Push in my side to verify the issue. To keep these confidential, please let
me know by mail: v-stezhu@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx I am looking forward to your reply.
IN DUE COURSE.
Thanks and have a nice day. Best Regards, Steven Zhu MCSE Microsoft Online
