Re: Help Please - Application Event Log Full of Errors

Hi Jenny, sorry for not replying before. I hadn't seen your reply (issues
with my ISP's NewsServer I think?) until I started posting about another
issue direct onto the MS NewsServer.

I followed your suggestion and removed Intel Server Manager from the Server
(this also uses provdisk.dll). This fixed the problem.

I've subsequently found a patch on Intel's site that resolves my initial
issue and now have ISM (with the patch) installed and running without the
errors logging to the event log

Thanks for your help

Dave

Hi David,

Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.

I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!

From your description, I understand the issue to be: you received event
WinMgmt 10 and event 1000 on the SBS server box every 15 minutes. If I am
off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.

The error code 0x8004106c = WBEM_E_QUOTA_VIOLATION.

It may be related to this update:

828653 Large WMI notification query may cause a quota violation
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=828653

Are you running SBS 2003 SP1? Can you please check the version of the file
Esscli.dll in %WinDir%\system32\wbem? If the version number is lower than
5.2.3790.86, then you need to install this hotfix, and please also check
if
SBS 2003 SP1 is actually installed.

The 1000 error event indicates that the wmiprvse.exe process crashed at
the
module of provDisk.dll at that time. Based on my research, the
ProvDisk.dll
file is installed by a third party application (very likely the LANDesk
System Manager).

Therefore, please search your system for the ProvDisk.dll file to see
which
application it belongs to and then try to uninstall this application as a
test to see if the problem can be resolved.

Hope above information helps! I am happy to be of assistance to you and
look forward to your reply.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

Hi, please help.
Every 15 minutes I get the following 4 errors logged in the application
log on my SBS2003 server
a.. Source : WinMgmt, Event ID : 10 Type : Error
Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent
WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance isa "Win32_LogicalMemoryConfiguration" AND
TargetInstance.AvailableVirtualMemory > 0" could not be (re)activated in
namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x8004106c. Events may not be
delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
b.. Source : WinMgmt, Event ID : 10 Type : Error
Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceCreationEvent WITHIN
600 WHERE TargetInstance isa "Win32_PnPEntity"" could not be (re)activated
in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x8004106c. Events may not
be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
c.. Source : WinMgmt, Event ID : 10 Type : Error
Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceDeletionEvent WITHIN
600 WHERE TargetInstance isa "Win32_PnPEntity"" could not be (re)activated
in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x8004106c. Events may not
be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
d.. Source : Application Error, Event ID : 1000, Type : Error
Faulting application wmiprvse.exe, version 5.2.3790.1830, faulting
module provDisk.dll, version 8.50.0.141, fault address 0x00008d92.
I'm also getting the following three errors logged to the application log
several times a day (can't see a regular timing pattern with these
though!)
a.. Source : MS ExchangeSA, Event ID : 9099, Type : Error
The MAD Monitoring thread was unable to read the state of the services,
error '0x800706be'.
b.. Source : MS ExchangeSA, Event ID : 9095, Type : Information
The MAD Monitoring thread is initializing.
c.. Source : MS ExchangeSA, Event ID : 9096, Type : Information
The MAD Monitoring thread is initialized.
I've searched all over the place for help but can't seem to find anything
that stops the errors being logged. Other than the logs we don't appear to
be having any problems, email is working fine etc.
TIA
Dave
