Re: Email enable doc lib

1) No problem, can "post" to mailbox, I can also send to mailbox from other
users mailbox.

Jenny, the problem is SP not picking up the mail rather than the
Exchange/mailbox not recieving the mail.

Thank you for your continued efforts.

I will try some logging over the weekend and report back on Monday.

Hi Jonathan,

I have tested the issue, I can not reproduce it. Let us perform test as
follows and collect some information for me:

1. Please try to logon Public folder list using URL:
http://myserver/public
and then create a post, what is the result? If the process failed, please
help me capture a screen shot of the symptom.

2. Please re-create the virtual server and then test the issue again.

3. Please enable IIS logging, reproduced the issue (try to access public
folder to create a post and create post with attachment), then mail me the
IIS log for analyze. My working mailbox is: v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

To enable IIS log:

a. Open IIS MMC, right click Default Web Site and then click Properties.
b. Click Website tab and then check Enable logging.
c. Stop the Default Website and rename the existing IIS log files under
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles.
d. Restart the Default Website and try Server Activesync to reproduce the
problem and wait 15 minutes.
e. Go to the following folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles and send them
to me.

I appreciate your time!

Have a nice weekend!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

IIS Virtual Sites

1) Default Site - Anonymous Access and IWA both enabled
2) Public - IWA and Basic Auth enabled ONLY!

3) HTTP Connector/SP,MailBox,V.Server - Basic Auth and IWA only

In summary the only variable is that of "Anonymous Authentication" which
is
ONLY enabled on the default site.

I don't have any error logs or problems with SBS that would indicate
authentication problems.

I did try creating an HTTP Outlook account for http://myserver:81 and used

Hi Jonathan,

Yes, you are correct. Since we have configured to use another port (81)
to
listen on http://myserver/public, we should use the URL:
http://myserver:81
as the root path of the Exchange server that hosts public folders rather
than the URL: http://myserver:81/public.

It is not the mistake of the document, the document apply to normal
network
environment, not the SBS environment.

Please create a email enabled document library to bind a public folder,
then try to send the public folder some messages with attachments. Then
please see if it can upload to the document.

What is your meaning of the sentence "Is it possible to test the virtual
mail server mailbox with Outlook by creating an HTTP mail account"? Do
you
mean that you want to test the issue by accessing the OWA site to send
mail
to public folder? Yes, you can.

If the issue persists, please help me the IIS metabase for analyze:

To collect the IIS Metabase:

a. Download the IIS Resource Kit tools from the following page:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C7
3
-
B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en
b. Install it, run MBExplorer (Metabase Explorer)
c. Right click the "LM" node and choose "Export to file".
d. Specify a file name, specify the password and finish the export.
e. Send the file and the password to me.

Please send the file to my working mailbox: v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I appreciate your time!

Have a nice day!

Hi Jenny,

I have read carefully the link you gave me and heres what it said:

6.
In the Public folder server and root path box, type the path to the
root folder on the Exchange server that hosts public folders.

Note: You must specify the server name for the public folder
server,
not the fully-qualified domain name. For example, use
http://server_name/public, not
http://server_name.domain.company_name.com/public.

Jenny, as you can see it does include "public" That is why I asked the
question. Have MS made a mistake?

I have tried both ways, that is http://myserver:81 and
http://myserver:81/public

Is it possible to test the virtual mail server mailbox with Outlook by
creating an HTTP mail account?

Jonathan

Hi,

Thanks for your update.

When you input URL: http://myserver:81 in IE, it will link us to
public
folders list. It is expected behavior. Why you used the URL:
http://myserver:81/mailbox? What you want to access? Do you mean the
mailbox is the public folder name that you configured to upload the
attachments here to document library?

Please note only the attachments to the public folder can be upload to
the
document library. Normal emails can not be uploaded to Sharepoint
site.

Please carefully take a look at the document to configure the mail
enabled
document library in the Sharepoint site:

Hi again Jenny.

That was very helpfull thankyou, as a test I checked to see if SBS
used
Form
Based authentication by default for the default Exchange Virtual
Server.
Yes
it does.

Eveything seems fine. The Public/folder is recieving the mail with
attachments.

The Exchange Virtual Server resolves to that Public/mailbox in IE

The Public/Folder security is not "form" based. And Annonymous has
full
access (for now)!

(1) The SP-Central Administation is configured to collect mail from
http://myserver:81
(2) My SP-CompanyWeb doc libary is configured to get mail from
http://mysever:81/mailbox

Now this is interesting. If I browse in IE the url (1) I get the
"mailbox"
but if I browse (2) I get no page.

If the SP-Central Admin is pointing at //myserver:81 and the
SP-DocLibary
at
/mailbox then this wont return the IEpage.

Another query, when I create the Virtual Exchange HTTP server, the
settings
ask for the PublicFolder, should this be "mailbox" or "Public
Folders"?

In summary the Document libary is still not collecting the mail.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup. It is nice to work with you
again
here.

From your description, I understand the issue to be: You have
configured
the E-mail-Enabled document library so that the attachment to the
public
folder will be automatically synchronized to the document library,
however
they failed to upload. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to
let
me
know.

What is the document you refer to configure the E-mail-Enabled
document
library? Can you give me the document link?

If you have configured properly, the attachment to the public folder
still
can not be uploaded, the root cause should be Exchange Forms-Based
Authentication. When the FBA has been enabled (by default and
recommended
on SBS 2003), the WSS service is not able to authenticate with
Exchange
and
Active Directory. As a workaround, we can create another virtual
directory
with FBA disabled to solve the problem.

To do so:

1. On the Exchange server, start the Microsoft Exchange System
Manager
utility.

2. If administrative groups are enabled, expand Administrative
Groups,
and
then expand the administrative group that contains the Exchange
server
where you want to create the new Exchange HTTP virtual server.

3. Expand Servers, expand your Exchange server, and then expand
Protocols.

4. Right-click HTTP, point to New, and then click HTTP Virtual
Server.

5. In the Name box, type a descriptive name for the Exchange HTTP
virtual
server, and then click Advanced.

6. Click the identity, click Modify, change the TCP port value to
81,
and
then click OK two times.

7. Under Exchange path, click Public folder, and then click OK.

8. Verify that the new Exchange HTTP virtual server is working
correctly.
To do this, start a Web browser program, and then enter the
following
URL:

http://localhost:81

9. On the server that is running Microsoft Windows SharePoint
Services,
start the SharePoint Central Administration utility.

10. Click the Configure virtual server settings from the Virtual
Server
List page link.

11. Click the Windows SharePoint Services virtual server that you
want
to
configure. For example, click Default Web Site.

12. Under Virtual Server Management, click the Virtual server
general
settings link.

13. In the E-Mail Enabled Document Libraries area, enter the new
Exchange
HTTP virtual server information in the Public folder server and root
path
box, and then click OK.

For more information, please refer to the following KB:

E-mail message attachments are not uploaded to the document library
in
your
SharePoint Services virtual server
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823569

Also you can take a look at the following article to get information
to
create a mail enabled document library in the Sharepoint site:
