I'll give it a shot.
Thanks Tom

Don't know if this helps but I had similar problems last year when I
transferred eTrust 7.1 from my SBS 4.5 server.
Looked back in my emails with the support group and found "it worked fine
after changing the eTrust AV Job Server to Admin logon."
Might be worth a try.

About the only other thing I can think of is to recheck all the settings,
and the permissions on the directory where eTrust is going to put the
updates. But I think if it were a permission issue, that would be
getting logged. You could try playing with active/passive ftp settings
(there's one in the eTrust page where you set the FTP info).
Can you manually update the signatures?

I can log into multiple SBS servers remotely that are using this same
version of Etrust and downlod with no problem, but this particular server
has issues....

I wonder if this is just a temporary glitch with CA's FTP server. As
you probably know, that log is normal right through "Downloading the
list of signature files." I don't see what could be wrong on your end
that would let you connect and authenticate to the FTP server, but would
then cause a timeout in downloading the files. I just tried it now and
ftpav.ca.com seemed to respond normally (but I don't need a download so
can't be 100% sure).
I'd give it a few more tries.
