Hi John,
Thanks for your update.
For you have installed hardware firewall outside the SBS network, please
try to modify registry key value on the SBS server box as follows:
Please open Registry Editor (regedit), go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters\Type
, change the value from whatever to "Nt5DS", then please restart the
W32Time service.
And also please double check the following settings:
1. Go to the SBS 2003 server, check the time zone setting. Make sure the
time zone setting is correct.
2. Open ''Services'' console in ''Administrative Tools''. In the services
console, double-click ''Windows Time''. If the startup type is
''Disabled'', please change it to ''Automatic'' and then click ''Start''
button to start this service.
3. Logon to the client PC, Re-synchronize the windows time, you can do as
follows:
a. On the logon page, select to logon locally.
b. Check if the DNS Server is pointing to the SBS Server.
c. Go to command prompt, type following command:
net stop w32time
net start w32time
w32tm /resync /rediscover
Please make sure that the client and the server has the same locale
settings and time zone settings. Please note AM and PM difference.
d. Then restart the client computer to see how it is going.
If the issue persists, please reboot the client computer to enter BIOS
interface, please check if the date in BIOS is set incorrectly.
If the issue persists, please help me collect some information for further
analyze:
1. When you tried to disable the firewall client on the PC, what error
message you received? Please try to reproduce the issue and capture a
screen shot for me.
2. Logon the workstation locally with the local administrator account. Open
a command prompt, type ''w32tm /monitor /computers:localhost'' (without the
quotation marks) and press Enter. What''s the output? Please paste the
output in the newsgroup or mail to me.
I appreciate your time!
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu

Thanks for the replies. I tried the steps listed below but still have
the same error.
(We have a hardware firewall on the back of our SBS towards our ISP
but I've assumed that is not "in front of your SBS server" as
described).
So I logged in as Administrator on the local machine and carried out
the steps suggest ( net commands ). They all seemed to work fine.
Cant take a screen shot of the error message as we're not logged on.
However the message is "The Current Time on this computer and the
current time on the network are different. For more information about
Date/Time properties see Help and Support. To log on, contact your
system administrator."
Cant figure out why its just started doing this on this PC but I did
try to disable the firewall last week. It wouldn't let me, but I was
directed to look in Group Policies on the SBServer but dont recall
changing anything (famous last words!).

For your description, I understand the issue to be: users can not log on
networkdomain and you received clock on the system does match that of the

Please follow below steps to refresh the time service to synchronize time

The w32time service problem may prevent client from properly accessing
anddomain resources. Please try to start the Windows Time service (w32time)
and see if the issue can be resolved.
A. Let''s open a command prompt and run the following commands to stop
perestart w32time service:
*****net stop w32time
*****net start w32time
Also check if you have a hardware router/firewall in front of your SBS
server, if so, please open Registry Editor (regedit), go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters\Ty
service., change the value from whatever to Nt5DS and restart the W32Time
synchronize
Maue sure the service''s startup type is set to automatic.
B. Please run the following command to make client workstations
v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxtime with the SBS 2003 server:
net time /setsntp:<SBS_Server_Name>
NOTE: Replace <SBS_Server_Name> with the real server name of the SBS 2003
server.
After doing the above steps, reboot client workstations and then try to
logon the domain. How about the result?

1. What is the exact error message when users tried to logon to domain?
Could you help me collect a screen shot when you reproduced the issue?
2. Can you find any error event logged in Event viewer? If yes, please

adjustment).
Dont know what to try next! Any help appreciated.
