Can Only Access http://companyweb as Administrator

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi,

I've been searching high and low for the past couple of days for a
solution to my problem but so far haven't had any luck. I've tried all
sorts of solutions posted in this group and on other websites but
nothing seems to work.

I am a newbie to Windows SBS 2003, and have recently been trying to set
it up for use at work. Everything has gone off without a hitch except
for companyweb. When ever anyone tries to access it, no matter what the
user, and no matter which client PC, they are always asked for a
username and password. The only user that will be authenticated however
is the Administrator, and it is also the only one that doesn't get
asked for login details when accessing companyweb.

Now initially once I put in the Administrator account details the user
could then access the site and it would even list them as the user.
This was an ok work around, but it did mean logging in to every PC as
Administrator, which would have to be re-done if the cache or forms
were cleared.. But now since I have set account password policies users
are always logged in as Administrator and there is no way to change
this. Again they are asked to login, but this time when you log in it
shows the user as Administrator. There is then no way to change this.

I have tried:

- Running the Change User Permission Wizard (trying both add to and
reset permissions)
- Deleting Users from both CompanyWeb and Sharepoint
- Adding new users with the Add User Wizard
- Setting trusted sites in Internet Explorer
- Changing the Security settings in Internet Explorer
- Checking the Windows Authentication and other IIS settings
- Clearing internet files, cookies and forms

Things I haven't tried:

- Deleting User accounts and profiles, as configuring our outlook etc
is a bit of a hassle. Plus adding brand new users should provide the
same results.

If I add users to the Domain Administrators account then everything
works fine, so I'm guessing that some permission is not being set
correctly but I can't work out what it could be. As I said, this is a
brand new install of SBS 2003 and nothing has been customised besides
doing the general setup in the 'To Do' list.

Any help or suggestions of things to try would be greatly appreciated
as I'm really banging my head against a brick wall on this one!

Thanks,

Peter
