yeah, but one's talking to your 'internet device' and the other is talking
to your local switch.
OK, forcing 100 full duplex results in total failure, what about 100 half
duplex?
Is the cable from the NIC going direct to the switch or through a socket,
building wiring, another patch cable, etc...?

Both are set to Auto. Note that if I try and force the Local network
connection to 100/Full Duplex, the link simply shuts right down. Have
tried
different switches, cables.
And yes, the setting is the same on both ports.

In Device Manager, right-click Network Adapters | <your adapter> then
click the Advanced tab. What's listed under Link Speed & Duplex? And
is this setting the same on the two NICs?

In article <E15F0E6E-D85C-4778-A305-8BBF1F12FA1A@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>,
CGTech@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx says...
System is running SBS2003 Premium, sp2 applied (except sqlsp4 and
isa2004),
hardware is an IBM x236 with dual Broadcom Gigabyte onboard.
Problem is that the local network connection will not go above 10mbps.
The
ISA server connection is at 100mbps with no problem. Initially we
thought is
was a hardware problem with the port, since bios/firmware/drivers were
all
updated. So we replaced the system board (nic's are integrated). Same
problem. Switched ports around so the ISA port was now on the one that
would
only do 10mbps, and the local network was now on the port that was
running
100mbps.
**The problem promptly moved over to the port the local network
connection
had been moved to..........**
...and the "new" ISA connection cheerfully went up to 100mbps.....
IBM level 2 support does not know what to make of this, I am of the
mind
that it is software within the O/S that is causing this.
Any thoughts?
