Hi Tester,
Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup!
I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand
setupthe newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!
From your description, I understand that you want to know if you can
pleaseDFS between the SBS server box and additional DC. If I am off base,
domaindon't hesitate to let me know.
Yes, you can. We can implement a distributed file system in either of two
ways, either as a stand-alone root distributed file system, or as a
defaultdistributed file system.
You can refer to below steps to configure DFS link to replicate the Users
folder on your SBS server and additional DC:
1. Delete all existing DFS root since they may interfere with the current
configuration.
2. Create a new Domain Root on the SBS server with root name 'Users'.
Note: You do not need to specify the UNC path, since the Users are
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/library/Serveshare of the SBS server
3. On the Windows 2003 DC, please create a new folder and name it with
'Users'. Grant it as the same NTFS permission of the 'Users Shared
Folders'
on the SBS server. Please do not share this folder
4. On the DFS console, right click New root and click 'New root target'.
Please create this new root target and point it to Users folder on the
remote Domain controller.
After above steps, you may need to use \\domain.local\users DFS link to
access it on both local client and remote client workstation

I have the my documents for all users redirected to the server so they
isbacked up regularly.
I am looking to add a second DC in my SBS domain for a bit of redundancy.
Can I use DFS and make the my documents on both of those servers (the sbs
server and the other dc) in a sort of folder mirror so if either server
offline, the my documents will still be available and then resynch whenthe
offline server comes back up?
curious
thanks.
