Never mind... Figured out it was because the account being used for the
service wasn't listed in the Gl. Ad. Book... don't know why this makes a
difference though..

Steven,.
I think I spoke too soon... Although access to the server seems
restored, now the backups for the exchange server are failing.
I use Veritas Backupexec, which tries to access \\server\Microsoft
Exchange Mailboxes and \\server\Microsoft Exchange Public folders.
A "net share" on the server now shows that these folders are no longer
being shared. I've tried searching for info on these shares, but can't
find much info. Closest I got to was :

Is this share an Exchange thing or a veritas add-on thing ?

Hi Steven,
I think the term is: success!!
I wasn't able to delete the original RUS as your said, I couldn't find
any option to delete it.
But I was able to create a new RUS service. So now I have two:
The original: Recipient Update Service (Enterprise Configuration)
and the new: Recipient Update Service (ubiquisys).
In each of the properties, they have the same settings, but I was able
to create a new user, login on the client and not have it complain -
which is good.
I'll be monitoring and testing it some more during the week, but it
looks good for now.
Thanks for your help so far.
