RE: Manual VPN works...Connect to SBS doesn't

I followed these instructions, which worked on a notebook computer, but not
my home computer, which previously could connect prior to a change in ISPs at
work. The home computer has Norton Internet Security, which I've tried to
configure differently to allow the connection without success.
Manual VPN still works.

Hi:.
Thanks for posting to SBS newsgroup.
From the description, I understand that remote XP client cannot connect to
the SBS Server via VPN connection when using the Connection Manager. If you
manually set up the VPN connection on the XP client, everything is working
fine. If I am off base, please do let me know.
Since the VPN can work normally when you manually build the VPN connection,
the problem should have something to do with the Connection Manager. To
make sure if the Connection Manager is correctly generated, please perform
the following action plans:
1. Open Server Management console and navigate to 'Internet and E-mail'
snap-in. Click 'Configure Remote Access'.
2. Click Next.
3. Check the "VPN access" option and click Next.
4. Enter the FQDN or public IP address which can be reached by internet
users.
For example, if you have a public domain name www.domain.com which can be
resolved to your public IP address of the SBS Server, please enter
www.domain.com. If you don't have a valid FQDN, please enter the public IP
address.
5. Click Finish.
After performing the above steps, the wizard will generate an executable
file named "sbspackage.exe" which is used to establish the VPN connection
to the SBS Server.
You can copy this file to the floppy disk or download it from RWW web site.
Please use this file to establish the VPN connection again, does the
problem disappear?
Hope the above info helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have any
questions or concerns.
Have a nice day!
Best Regards
Edward Tian(MSFT)
