Re: Winconnect TS and profiles

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I need to add that the separate licence also applies to other software
running on the XP WS especially MS Office which is licenced by Device. See
this from Winconnect FAQ

Do I need to buy additional software licenses?
The WinConnect Server XP allows multiple users to simultaneously and
independently share the same hardware and software installed on the Host
computer. Some software is licensed for use on a single computer while other
software may be licensed for single or multiple users. It is the
responsibility of the WinConnect Server XP purchaser/user to read and comply
with the licensing agreements of any software that may be used on the RDP
devices.

A separate Windows XP license is required for each RDP device connected to
the Host computer running Windows XP. It is the responsibility of the
WinConnect Server XP purchaser/user to read and comply with the Windows XP
licensing agreement or contact Microsoft for clarification regarding this
licensing requirement

Hi Ken

Do you have a separate XP Pro license for every user logging onto that XP
WS concurrently to remain legal? Since Terminal Services is not supported
on XP by MS I don't know where the issue might be. I would ck with
Winconnect for solution if you are certain you are operating legally.

Hi All

I've looked and looked and haven't found an answer.

We have win 2003 SBS and a number of XPSP2 boxes. 1 XP box has
WinconnectXP TS on it. We are using roaming profiles for all users.
Have enventually got the roaming profiles to work correctly on the XP
boxes (bar them dropping the default printer setup). Using a separate
profiles$ folder with the usual security settings and a share for
personal files redirected "my documents".

The logon from the Winconnect TS gives a roaming profile error 1521
cannot find the roaming profile. There is an entry in the client PC
events file but nothing at the server. It *seems* to be a permissions
problem but cannot locate it. Tried to include just about anything and
everything for permissions on the share but no good.

Any clues?

TIA

Ken
