Hello Keith,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I understand that you cannot upload files to a server. If I have
misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
In order to supplement your description, I need your help to gather the
following information:
1. What is the method you use to upload file, FTP or HTTP?
2. You mentioned "upload certain files (scanned images) to a server", I
have following questions:
a. Where does the server locate? In the Internet or in the SBS 2K3 Domain?
b. Did you encounter any error message when uploading files? If yes, please
capture a screen shot for it and send it to Newsgroup so we can have a
clearer image for your issue.
3. What is the version of your ISA Server? Is it ISA 2K or ISA 2K4?
4. If you are running the ISA 2K4 Server, please perform following steps in
ISA Server Management Console to see how it goes:
a. Open Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004.
b. Expand to Domain\Firewall Policy.
c. On the middle pane, under the Firewall Policy tab, right click SBS
Internet Access Rule and select Configure FTP.
d. On the Protocol tab, uncheck the box Read Only.
e. Click OK.
f. Test the issue again.
5. If step 4 does not work, please continue performing following steps:
a. Open Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004.
b. Expand to Domain\Firewall Policy.
c. On the right pane, under Toolbox tab, under Common Protocols, double
click HTTP.
d. On the Parameters tab, under Application Filters, uncheck the box Web
Proxy Filter.
e. Click OK and test the issue again.
6. If the issue persists, please help me to gather ISA log and ISA info. I
assume that you are running ISA 2K4. if you are running ISA 2K, please do
let me know and I will provide the steps to gather ISA log and ISA info in
my next reply:
ISA Info:
1) Download the file from the following URL:
http://www.isatools.org/isainfo/ISAInfo.zip
2) Extract all files to a folder on ISA server
3) Double click Isainfo.js. This will generate 2 files
ISAInfo2004-<computer-name>.log and ISAInfo2004-<computer-name>.xml in the
current folder.
4) Please send these files to me.
To gather the ISA logs:
1) Schedule a down time.
2) Open ISA 2004 management console.
3) Expand the server node and highlight 'Monitoring'.
4) In the right pane, switch to the 'Logging' tab, make sure the 'Task
Pane' is showed there.
5) In the 'Task Pane', click 'Configure Firewall Logging' under 'Logging
Tasks', and then switch the 'log storage format' from 'MSDE database'
(default) to 'File'.
6) Switch to the 'Fields' tab, click 'Select All', and then click OK.
7) In the 'Task Pane', click 'Configure Web Proxy Logging' under 'Logging
Tasks', and then switch the 'log storage format' from 'MSDE database'
(default) to 'File'.
8) Switch to the 'Fields' tab, click 'Select All', and then click OK.
9) Click 'Apply' to save changes and update the configuration.
10) Temporarily disable the Firewall service. To do that, please click
Monitoring | Services tab, and then right click 'Microsoft Firewall' to
choose 'Stop'.
11) Clear the current existing W3C logs. To do that, go to the log saving
directory and clean any existing .W3C logs. By default, the logs will be
saved to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft ISA Server\ISALogs'. (Some MDF may not
be able to deleted,that's normal.) You may backup them first and then
delete them.
12) Go back to the ISA 2004 management console, and then Start the stopped
'Microsoft Firewall' service.
13) Reproduce the problem, stop the service, and then gather the resulting
W3C files to me for analysis.
14) Please also let me know the IP address of the testing client/server so
that I can filter the data.

One of our customers is requiring us to use a web application that allows
to upload certain files (scanned images) to a server. I am having aproblem
getting the web application to work, and the tech support people said itwas
a problem with the security settings on our network. We are running SBSthat
2003, using ISA Server as the proxy server. The tech support guy said
his software needed "permission to upload using HTTP". How do I grantthis
permission in ISA Server?
