Dear Customer,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.

KB article to properly remove and reinstall the SBS SharePoint:First of all, please make sure that you have strictly followed the below
829114 How to remove and how to install the Windows Small Business Server
2003 SharePoint Services companyweb Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;829114
following information for further research:If the issue persists after perform KB829114, please help me to gather
1. When did the issue occur? Did you make any changes on the SBS Server
recently? For example, install any software, updates (SBS 2K3 SP1, Net
Framework 2.0) etc?
2. You mentioned "complaining that I neeed SQL 2000 SP3 installed. I have
SP4 installed on the main SQL instance and SP3 on the Sharepoint MSDE
instance". Please type the exact error message word by word the Newsgroup

business server 2003\logs
For your additional information:
If the error message you encounter is "SQL Server 2000 needs SP3 for
Windows Server 2003 compatibility", please see:
a. This issue could happen if the server has Microsoft SQL 2000 installed
and Service Pack 4 for SQL 2000 is also installed.
This is a problem with the SBS 2003 RTM code, this issue has been resolved
in SBS 2003 SP1.
If you did not install SBS 2K3 SP1, I suggest you strictly follow the web
link below to install SBS SP1:
Windows Small Business Server 2003 Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/downloads/sp1/default.mspx
b. This issue also can occur even if you have SP1 installed or when you try
to install the SBS server at the first time and you are getting blocked at
the beginning of the setup. There is also workaround for this situation and
I would like to deliver this information to you for your reference.
-Make sure that no-one is using any database on the SQL server-
-Stop the MSSQLSERVICE service
Open regedit and go to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer\CurrentVersion
-With that key selected, go to File and select Export. Save the exported
registry key as a backup.
-On the mentioned key, on the right side, find the CSDVersion value.
If SP4 is installed, the value will be 8.00.2039. If it is not, then stop
and confirm what Service Pack is really installed for SQL 2000.
Change the value in CSDVersion from 8.00.2039 to 8.00.761
Re-start the SBS 2003 setup, once it completes, change the CSDVersion value
back to 8.00.2039 before attempting to use SQL 2000 again.
After completing the SBS 2003 setup off RTM media, SBS SP1 should be
installed.
Windows Small Business Server 2003 Service Pack 1

Hope it helps! If you have any further updates, please feel free to let me
know. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Brandy Nee

Hi,
I have been experiencing the issue with companyweb that alot of other
people seem to be experiencing (You are not authorized to view this
page, Server Error in '/' Application) and want to go through the
reinstall process, however, when I attempt to do this the setup
component fails complaining that I neeed SQL 2000 SP3 installed. I
have SP4 installed on the main SQL instance and SP3 on the Sharepoint
MSDE instance.
Is this an issue with the setup files not recognising SP4? If so what
do you think is the best way around it?
Thanks
.
