and, as I commented elsewhere a few moments ago, if Ghost 2003 chucks a
hissy fit it _may_ be that an earlier version will be successful.
I gotta comment about the 'break the mirror' concept though. DO NOT
logically break the mirror until you first shutdown and remove one of the
mirrored pair. This way the 'partner' (the disconnected drive) still
believes it is part of the mirrored pair. The system will boot with a
missing drive and it is at this time that you break the mirror and delete
the missing drive from Drive Manager. Should it all go pear shaped you
reconnect the partner, disconnect the drive you've been playing with, boot
normally, shutdown, reconnect the drive and boot, re-establish your mirror,
and you're back to a pre-ghost_attempt_ state.

You should be able to use Ghost 2003 to accomplish this. When Ghost
images a dynamic disk, it converts it to basic. Break the mirror first
and remove the secondary (shadowing) disk for safekeeping in case things
go south. 'Image to/restore from' an external USB drive or a spare drive
in the server.

Hi,
My server has a software RAID, thus having dynamic discs. Now I what to
change to a hardware RAID and need to change to basic discs.
Standard response is usually that you loose all data when reverting to a
basic disc. Any work-arounds, so my SBS server remains intact and I do
not
have to recreate my domain?
Symantec Partition Manager 8 cannot be installed on the server :-(
