Hi Brian,
Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup!

To continue working with me in the newsgroups, please see the following:
From your description, I understand the issue to be: the outlook profilecan not auto-create on the terminal server in SBS 2003 network. If I am off
base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Based on my knowledge, it is normal behavior. Since the TS is a member
server not a client workstation. During server setup, a default .prf file
named SBSDefault.prf is copied from CD to \\%sbsserver%\clients\Setup. The
setup then updates two instances of %SBSServer% with the name of the
server. During client configuration (ConnectComputer,) the file is copied
to the client folder ''C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Clients'' and %FaxTransport% is replaced with either MSFax XP (for
Windows XP) or SHAREDFAX XP (for Windows 2000). When the user logon to the
workstation, the SBSDefault.prf will be executed and default Outlook
profile will be configured. And there is no such folder and files is
copied to the TS box, so the default Outlook profile will not configured
automatically.
I would like to suggest that you follow below steps to workaround the
problem:
1. Make sure Outlook is closed.
2. Locate the folder \\SBS2003Server\clients\Setup, double click
sbsdefault.prf, this will automatically create the outlook profile with the
correct settings (which also include the FAX Transport) for the
corresponding domain user.
Also you can manually configure email profile on the TS box. For detail

Hope above information helps. If you have any unclear about the information
please let me know. I am happy to be of assistance to you and look forward
to your reply.
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu

Typically, when a workstation is joined to an SBS2003 network and a new
subsequently logs into that workstation and launches Outlook for the firstdeployed
time, the Outlook profile is automatically created for connection to the
Exchange Server without forcing the user to go through the Outlook
Configuration Wizard. I am trying to accomplish the same type of behavior
using a dedicated Win2K3 TS box but am not seeing the same results.
I joined the TS box to the domain using the SBS network wizard, and
the Outlook client through the server management console, but when a newwizard
user launches Outlook on the TS box they are prompted by the Outlook
to create the profile.
What am I missing here? Where does the Outlook client get the profile
information from when it creates the account in the single workstation
model?
