Is it possible to update active directory through SharePoint? Our
Sharepoint instance is populated by the active directory. We would like
to make AD updates through SP's profile database and have the updates
saved in the AD.
Thanks!
Al
This is possible if Sharepoint is not installed on a domain controller.
There are two modes for AD account creation and the SBS default Sharepoint
instance will not create AD accounts. There is no easy way nor would it be
supported to activate that feature. Attempting to modify SBS sharepoint
would likely break Companyweb Sharepoint site.
Your questions will get better responses in the Sharepoint Services
newsgroups.
You can be delegated Power User rights for account management on the SBS
machine that would not allow you to administer the server besides users and
printers. If this does not pertain to SBS, then it's again a wrong
newsgroup. :-)
