Yup - similar one we're 90% to picking up just now. Quoted them for
migrating data to new, freshly installed SBS2K3 Premium box [from badly
installed SBS2K box] and sorting their problems out rather than trying to
sellotape together the remnants of a crappy set-up they have just now.
If they don't want to do it properly, we'll walk away and await their call
at a later date.
Don't go sit in a a hole that someone else has dug...

David

Hi Jamie
Some clients you just don't want! I would sit down with the owner and
explain that the server was setup wrong and that if he wants it to run
properly and efficiently he needs to listen to you which is why he called
a professional to help. If he won't help then Walk!!! Yes you can set it
where the default won't change but that is the least of your problems with
this customer. PCNowhere has no place on a SBS network :-(

Hi,
I inherited a client with an SBS 2k3 standard box and it looks like the
people that set it up had no clue what they were doing. They didn't run
the
wizards for anything. They're currently using exchange only for public
folders and not email. Each individual's outlook has the exchange client
and
a pop client. External email comes through pop and internal through
exchange
which is causing all kinds of problems. The owner of the company is
convinced
this is the way to go and wants to keep it this way!!!!!
First problem-
Every time the users reboot their default mail account gets changed to
the
exchange account. This causes outbound external mail to get bounced.
Is there anyway to stop SBS from changing it? Or can I disable all
exchange
mail services and only use exchange for public folders?
Second Problem-
I ran the connection wizard to enable RWW. Every time I try to connect to
the server it comes up with : Connectivity to the remote computer could
not
be established. Ensure that the remote computer is on and connected to
the
Windows Small Business Server Network.
I've checked and I can't see any third party software that could be
blocking
it. Ports are open on the firewall and RWW is working...PC Anywhere is
installed and listening and log me in... I just can't connect to the
server...
Any ideas???
