Re: SBS updates, OS, Exchange, ISA etc

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

....and it does do ISA (2004) already.

imho, it's best freebie MS has put out in years. The Exchange Best Practices
tools are a very close second though.

Hi Maxibo,

I too came from using HFNETCHK previously - just did our first WSUS
installation [in-house, I hasten to add] and thus far I'm very very
impressed. Very clear web interface and using Group Policy to control the
flow of the updates to the clients etc is cool. As is the granularity of
downloads/detection.

Something to bear in mind also is that WSUS will be included in SBS 2K3 R2
which is somewhere on the horizon and will be integrated into both the
installation and also allow the reporting side to be integrated to the
server status reporting [I hear]

There is a specific SBS/WSUS document on the MS website here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=28c43d57-2e15-47b2-9a6f-1514aa3ed05f&displaylang=en

HTH,

David

What are you all using to check for updates.

Hfnetchk was cool being free for 4 / 5 pc site. Clients over 10 pcs
paid for product but now additional cost for the smaller sites.....
Also new product is much more complex.

GFI is another but don't feel I have enough control, especially seeing
what has happened till its finished.

Anything else you all using ?
