Problem:
I just installed SQL2000 Standard. Whenever I try to use enterprise
manager
or access the Computer Management console I get the following error:
"Snap-in failed to initialize. Name: Microsoft SQL Enterprise Manager
CLSID:{00100100-1816-11D0-8EF5-00AA0062C58F}"
I am currently running SBS2003 Standard. I am trying to get ready for a
Microsoft CRM 3.0 installation, which requires SQL 2000 standard. I
had
recently got a copy of SBS 2003 Premium, which includes SQL. I read
somewhere
that the only difference between the two editions was the Premium
Technologies CD which includes SQL and ISA. I used this CD to install
SQL on
to my system.
The installation of SQL completed without any errors, however, I get
the
error previously mentioned whenever I try to open Enterprise manager or
the
Computer Mangement console.
Also, I am unable to install Service Pack 4 for SQL as the installation
never completes. In the middle of the installation it installation
wizard
dissappears without a trace. There is no acknowledgement that the
intallation
completed or finished. When I try to rerun the setup, it says another
installation is already running, presumably the one that dissappeared.
Can anyone help me with this problem???
.
