2 nic configuration with firewall -- How effective?

We are planning to reconfigure our 15 user SBS2003 network using 2 nics to
take advantage of added features that require that configuration including
the firewall. Several network "giuru's" we know are casting doubts on
relying on the built-in firewall, saying the only way to go is with PIX or
similar devices. We want to keep it simple, so the 2 nic configuration
appeals to us.

So, our questions are -- How effective is the built-in firewall? -- And, are
there difficulties we should watch for when configuring the network using
two nics?

Thanks.

Leon
