Re: Basic questions for new install
Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance
Sol:
Following up ... I recently installed SBS as a Virtual PC from my
pre-SP1 Action Pack CDs. (And I previously did a "real" install for a
client, using basically the same approach.) Here's the order I used:
* Install SBS2003 from CDs 1 thru 3 + Outlook CD (if you selected
Outlook to be installed).
* If you want full-text search, upgrade Windows Sharepoint Services to
SQL Server 2000 + SP3a using SBS Premium Technologies CD.
* From Windows SBS 2003 Premium Service Pack 1, Disk 1:
- Install Windows Server SP1
- Install Windows Sharepoint Services 2.0 SP1
- Do not install Exchange Server 2003 SP1; download SP2 from
Microsoft's web site and install.
* From Windows SBS 2003 Premium Service Pack 1, Disk 2:
- Install Windows XP SP2 for Client Deployment
- Install Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP1
* From Windows SBS 2003 Premium Service Pack 1, Disk 3:
- Install Windows SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 on the SHAREPOINT
instance *only*.
- Install Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004
if you want ISA.
Then run the CEICW and use Windows Update or Microsoft Update ... or
download and install WSUS.
