Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I think you are missing the point.

some carriers BLOCK ports from working at all.
i.e. you send a request remotely, to port 4125
it never gets there- because verizon black holes it/never passes it on.

MDJB & Rosewood,
Thank you for responding.
The problem is outside the lan. I can pinpoint the problem to the Verizon
wireless connection since the internal wireless card connects using the
same
laptop firewall settings and logon credentials. I'm not very experienced
with
port settings, but on the router connected to SBS, I have forwarded the
following ports to the server:
25
80
443
444
4125

The Verizon broadband connection indicates "PPP". I'm thinking there are
other ports involved in this but can't recall which ones. Perhaps 500?
Thanks!

the internal wireless connection- from any wifi hotspot- or an internal

the lan accesspoint only?

if inside, that's on the lan, if outside, then yes, I'd look at port
blocking as suggested by rosewood..
also, you may have on the laptops firewall rules set differently based on
connection.

I cannot figure out what I'm missing.
I purchased two laptops to remotely access the SBS server.
Both computers work fine using the internal wireless connection.
However,
if
I switch to the wireless broadband PCMCIA card (through Verizon), I can
only
connect to e-mail and cannot access the desktop.
The familiar message received is: The client could not establish a
connection to the remote computer.
Likely causes, remote connections not enabled at remote, etc..etc..

This wireless card is configured like a modem. Does anyone have
experience
with this connection and SBS2003 and hopefully tell me where I'm not
looking?
Or.. can you tell me what direction I need to take with the Verizon
help
tech? Thanks!
