Cris,
I did some research on creating SPF records and found a site www.openspf.org
[which by the way has a cool little wizard to create the txt script] that
tell all about SPF. Also on this site there is a way to test if your script
is correctly configured.
I also found out for those who read this and do not know, once you create a
script and place it into the DNS records, it must still be updated by
everyone's [i.e. AOL.com] servers. Although I was getting a "pass" on my
script test this client was still getting delay of delivery notices.
Thank you for your help.
We have one more [related] issue and I am hoping you could help me. Now it
seems that Comcast's email servers do not like our new IP address. We are
not getting the same delay of delivery and non-delivery notices. The
non-delivery notices have a little different error. The error is as follows:
ourdomain.com #5.5.0 smtp;521-EHLO/HELO from sender 000.000.00.000 does not
map to ourdomain.com in DNS
I substituted our domain.com for our real domain name and 000.000.00.000 for
our real IP [public] Address.
In the exchange server SMTP connector setup on the advance tab we "do not"
have check Send HELO instead of EHLO.
The outbound security is set to Anonymous.
Also on the Advance tab we have ERTN/TURN selected.
Do we need to change any of these settings to eliminate the problem with
Comcast? If not, is there another setting I need to change?
Thank you again for your help. Ed Podowski
P.S. I am currently reading the Small Business Specialist Primer and 70-282
Exam Preparation Guide by Harry Brelsford and Beatrice Mulzer. In the
introduction at the time the book was written [2005] there were 34 SBS-MVPs.
I don't know how many there are now but you are in a very elite group. Thank
you for helping us to solve our SBS problems.

As was pointed out...you need a reverse DNS entry and SPF record on DNS.
Servers and you should be fine
Whoever manages DNS for this clients domain name should be about to do this
quickly

I am not sure if this is an option. Verizon only furnishes the T-1
connection. We are currnently using exchange to download from pop3 boxes
and
to deliver email through smtp using DNS for routing. The MX record points
to
our FQDN which is our real email server. This client wants to keep it
that
way for now.
I have other people on Verizon [DSL] and they can send to AOL.com users.
When these clients [using Verizon DSL] did not have a static ip, their
did not go though to AOL.com email addresses. They got a static ip and
the
email went through fine.
Is there something else that Verizon needs to do to show this connection
is
a valid connection? One that is not used for spamming. We changed this
client from XO Communications last week. Before we did all email
including
email sent to someone at AOL.com was delievered. Nothing has changed in
the
email setup on the SBS 2003. I ran the CEICW after the change in the
provider.
Thank you, Ed Podowski

Yes, you can (aol.com), but you'll only later have this problem with
other
email domains.
Since you are paying for a static IP from Verizon, have them fix your DNS
(MX - pointer record).
AOL will start working fine and you won't have to deal with unnecessary
"work-arounds".

I have two SBS 2003 Exchanger Server questions.
Is there a way to forward only email to someone@xxxxxxx to the smart
host?
Using Exchange server on a SBS 2003, we are getting delay of delivery
notices
and non-delivery notices for all email being sent to an AOL.com
address.
We
know that AOL.com is not allowing the delivery. All other email is
going
through to all other domains. We have a static IP address on a T-1
line
by
Verizon. We are using DNS to route email.
I did not want to forward all email to a smart host. Do you have any
other
suggestions?
I have another question. We are starting to get close to the 16GB
limit
in
SBS Exchange. Can I set up multiple storage groups SBS 2003 Exchange?
Will
this give us another 16GB of storage? If so. How do I do this? Do you
know
of a KB article for reference? Thank you, Ed Podowski
