First things first. I can't figure out why you can't get Internet at least
from the server. Do you have the External NIC configured with a fixed IP
address or DHCP as appropriate? On the server, open a command prompt and
type ipconfig /all. Your external NIC should have an appropriate IP
address, either fixed as instructed by your ISP, or assigned by DHCP from
the DSL router. It's Default Gateway should point to the LAN side of the
DSL router. It should be pointing to the Internal NIC of the SBS for DNS.
I'm not sure I get what you mean when you refer to going back to the p2p
network so your desktops can access the Internet. Are you saying when
they're joined to the SBS network they don't have web access, but when
they're in a workgroup they do?
Do you currently have a desktop PC that has Internet access through that DSL
router? If so, run an ipconfig /all on that desktop. Then run it on the
SBS. Make sure the SBS external NIC has an IP address in the same range,
and that it's default gateway matches that of the working desktop.
Or better yet, just post the ipconfig /all from the server and if possible
from the desktop with Internet access.

Hi Dave-
Thank you, yesterday, I had done all that you said with the correct NIC's
and set up as listed below, I still could get NO internet activity from
the
server or workstation. All workstations are running XP PRO w/ SP2. I ran
the Internet Wizard several times with several different scenerios, and
had
no luck connecting to the internet with that, also had no luck for
workstations to see any shared files that I set the "Sharing and Security"
on.
I have not installed the ISA Server yet or the Premium Technologies yet.
I did go to the /computerconnect, and had all the computers connected to
the
server, with the server able to connect and see all shared files on the
workstations.
I since then have went back to a Peer 2 Peer style network, so my
workstations could connect to the internet, but I have no Quickbooks yet,
as
I can't see any of the files on the server from the workstations.
Thanks a million!!

So it sounds like you didn't do anything to the software configuration on
the SBS, right? And you have two NICs on the SBS, with your DSL modem
connected to the external NIC, and your LAN hub/switch connected to the
internal NIC. Then your desktops connect to the hub/switch as well.
Assuming all that's the case, please re-run the CEICW by going to the
Server
Management console. In the left pane, click To Do List near the top,
then
click Connect to the Internet. Run the wizard and completely from
beginning
to end. If there are things you've already configured that are working
correctly, you can click the "do not change" box for those as you pass by
them. Make sure you select the correct NIC for your LAN and your
Internet
connection.
After that, see if you have Internet connectivity from the server and
from a
workstation. Post back your results. Also post back:
- Did you install the premium technologies CD so that ISA Server is
installed?
- Did you connect the client PCs to the SBS domain using the Add Computer
wizard from the Server Management console, and then by going to the
client
PC and running http://<sbs_name>/connectcomputer?
- What operating system are the client PC's running?

Forgive me I am a little new to this, well I had it set up as a
workgroup
or
peer 2 peer with one ethernet adapter and all computers had internet
access.
Then I went and added a 2nd ethernet adapter and ran the DSL modem to
the
server, then back to the hub, then out to all computers, then I took
each
computer and connected to a domain rather than a workgroup, and I
couldn't
get internet access or file sharing on the server. Please let me know
if
this helps at all, you are also welcome to call me if you need a better
explanation.
Thanks,
Lance

Well I'm a bit confused here when you say "I started with P2P and then
switched to a domain"? How did you do that when SBS must be installed
in
a
domain? Are you also using ISA server?

Hi there-
I'm very new to this, I have installed SBS 03 Premium and it is
running, I
started as a P2P, had internet access, but limited Networking, then
switched
to a Domain, but had NO internet Access at all, so went back to p2p
and
have
internet access, but NO files are sharing on the server, I can't
even
access
the server from the other computers. All computers are Win XP Pro.
Please help, as I'm pulling my hair out after working on this for
20+
hours.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Lance Salisbury
