RE: Can't logon from workstation as Administrator

forgot to mention Jenny, that the auto-reply I get to notify me of a response
to this thread, it comes out screwy. Probably happens to others as well.

It has the "" characters up the top. I got this at another company, it
happens when you are using a html signature. Never could figure out why. Now
there is a real issue that burned my brain! Why does it do that!

Cheers.

Thanks for that, but i didn't do it for my benefit.
I can live with this problem. I just wanted to correspond with the original
poster to see if he got this sorted. Seems pretty darn close to the original
problem and I wanted to say that it happens using full server 2003 as well.

Didn't realise that these threads were actually monitored by MS techs,
that's pretty good. I'll use them in the future.

Cheers.

Hi SKiZO,

Thanks for posting here.

Since it is a deferent scenario with the original thread creator, I would
like to suggest you create a new thread to post your question. Microsoft

different incidents in different threads to keep the thread clean. In doing
so, it will ensure your issues are resolved in a timely manner. And other

learn from your interaction with us. Also, this is to make sure that the
responders can better track the problem. Thank you for your understanding-).

Have a nice day!

I am getting exactly the same on our workstations.
Can't login as Administrator account for the domain.
Every other account including local admin works fine.
It is only on certain workstations, but if it happens on a particular
workstation, it will always happen on that same workstation.
Already tried most of the above. I was thinking corrupt profile as well,
but
after rebuilding the profile, still the same.
Even reloading XP SP2 didn't fix it.

However we are not running SBS
XP SP2 Pro clients on Windows 2003 Server domain.

The only things out of the ordinary are:-

* Administrator account is renamed
* All PC's are imaged - However, we have several different images for
desktops and laptops and it is happening to all different images.

Everything else works perfect, these problems don't happen on the servers.
All other users work perfectly also. Workstations log no errors when this
happens.

Did you ever figure it out Warren?

We just upgraded our SBS 2003 Premium server to SP1. Everything seemed
to go
smoothly, including the ISA 2004 upgrade.

However, now I can't logon to the server from any of the workstations as
Administrator. The system hangs at the "Applying your personal settings"
screen for appx. 20 to 30 minutes!!! When it finally gets past this
point,
all you see on the desktop is the wallpaper. Pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL
eventually allows you to get to Task Manager, etc. so individual apps
can be
browsed/run, but the desktop, taskbar, etc. never appears. Examining the
Event Viewer shows a few Error 40960 and 40961 issues, as if the server
isn't there or can't authenticate the client.

The weird thing is: all other user accounts can login normally from the
workstations (no errors in Event Viewer, no slowdown, etc.). It's only
the
Administrator account that has this problem - and it has this problem
from
every workstation I've tried. Everything (including the Administrator
login)
worked fine prior to the upgrade.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this problem!
