Re: proper naming of a domain

The primary reason for not being able to see resources/browse etc during a VPN is that the IPschema of remote network is the same as the LAN that you are connecting to.

Thanks for the reply. To help answer your questions on the VPN connection
from home I can Connect to the server and it tells me that I am connect to
the network. But when I try to map a network drive or view any of the network
resources it tells me that the path cannot be found. I have also tried
pinging to the reources and cannot. I have set rules in ISA2k4 to allow pings
to come in and answer. I know this works because I can hook a laptop or
another machine directly to the router and get in with no problems. able to
ping any resource able to see entire network. If I take the laptop home and
hookup to my home system and try to VPN into the office I can log on but
again can see NO resources. I have Verizon DSL at home and have checked with
them but the say they are not blocking anything. Our local ISP is not
blocking anything either. Also I had a person who has the same internet
provider that we have here at the office and they cannot see the internal
resources. I have checked and rechecked permissions and all are set
correctly. One more bit of info I have two field people that can get into the
system. but they could get in before the new server was put on line ( old
system SBS2k).
As far as RWW is concerned at home or connected to the router I type the url
of www.abcompany.com/remote It comes back with "page cannot be displayed.
Cannot find server or DNS error". I have created an "A" record on my server
to point to the SBS server when www.abcompany.com/remote is encountered.
From inside the network I can enter the following and get to the RWW login
screen "https://servername/remote";.
I am really at a lose as to what to try next. Again thanks for your
assistance.
