Lessons Learned: Connecting a Macintosh to SBS 2003 Server via SMB:

Only the .3's afaik.

I'd check with Eriq regarding other options.

I am faced with a situation where we were under the impression that SBS
2003 was able to support Mac OS X without many problems.

We're now realizing that when we used the .local domain extension that
it is going to have issues with a few of our 10.2.8 clients.
Unfortunately we cannot upgrade them at this time and need to support
them.

Does anyone have experience with the document from MS about connection
10.3 clients and higher and whether or not that works with 10.2.8?

We're faced with either having to force the upgrade of our 10.2.8
workstations (not likely) or reinstall the SBS 2003 server to remove
the .local.

I'd like to use the RENDOM.exe, gpfixup and XDR-Fixup.exe utilities but
everything that I have read says these will not work with SBS.

We've currently got ISA 2004, SQL 2000, Exchange 2003 and WSUS
implemented on the server.

Is there any way to successfully rename the domain to support the OS X
10.2.8 clients? Or are we faced with a re-install. If a re-install is
required, then how can we backup our GPOs and other important data from
the apps implemented.

Thanks,
