Since the public folder is used frequently for your customer, I would like
introduce the following methods for your reference.

Create a shortcut in Desktop
-----------------------
We can manually drag the shortcut for the specific Public Folder to Desktop
as below.

(1) Open Outlook 2003.
(2) Resize your Outlook Screen so that you can see your Desktop in the
Background.
(3) Highlight the specific Public Folder from the Folder List, hold the
right mouse Button Down and drag it to the Windows Desktop.
(4) When you release the Mouse Button, you will get the Options of Copy
Here, Move Here or create Active Desktop shortcut here.
(5) Select Copy Here. The Desktop shortcut for the specific Public Folder
will be created now.

Start Outlook with switch to directly locate a public folder
-----------------------
We can use the following switch to open Outlook with a public folder:

(1) Click Start, and then click Run
(2) Type "Outlook://Public Folders/All Public Folders/<public folder name>"
and click OK. (Without quotation marks but there is a space in front of "/")

To integrate public folder and the Sharepoint site, you can configure
homepage of the public folder. To do this:

(1) Right-click on the one public folder name that is selected and choose
Properties.
(2) Click the Home Page tab, input the sharepoint web site URL to link user
to related sharepoint document library list. Then click OK to complete the
process.
(3) Then restart Outlook.

And also we create a mail enabled document library in the Sharepoint site,
it can archive all the attachments of the emails in the specific public

Thank you very much for the prompt reply you answer were very helpful (and
frustrating!!!!!)

As intimated in my question I did apply the reg fix you stated BUT I
didn't
restart Exchange after applying - again thanks for that

The reply symbol on PF is a bit of a pain - I'm currently on an
installation
were the users need to be familiar with whats going on (so emails can't be
deleted aafter replying to) as well as which one have been dealt with. I
suppose I could set up another folder in which they could move the ones
which
had been replied to - it;'s just a bit messy

You caveat to the Outlook today question ia an acceptable option is therw
a
way to set this type of thing up from the server so that I don't have to
go
around avery machine and every user. Like most companes, my customer is
heavily dependant of PFs

Additional Questions

Can PFs be incorporated into a Sharepoint workspace (or similar) .

In Office 2000 using PFs was easy but in Office 2003 Microsoft is making
it
difficult to access them easily which is daft because it's probably one of
the main reasons companies get Exchange

Q2) Can you configure PF'ers to display the replied icon like it does in
normal personal inbox

A: I am afraid that we can not configure like that since public folders
are
saved on the Exchange server and all users can access them. When we
access
the public folders, we will be linked to server to read the messages.

Q3) Can a PF be made to show in 'OUTLOOK TODAY'

A: Yes, we can. We can add the public folders we frequently access into
Outlook Today. To do so:

(1) In Outlook Today (the root of our Exchange mailbox), click Customize
Outlook Today.
(2) Click the Choose Folders button in the Message section.
(3) Locate a public folder and click to select the check box in the
front
of it. Click OK.
(4) Click Save Changes.
(5) In this way, the public folder we select in step 3 will show up
under
Messages in Outlook Today. We can click the link and quickly locate the
folder.

Q4) Can a PF be made to show the number of unread entries after the
folder
like a users normal inbox and have a popup message appear on screen.

A: I am afraid that it is can not set like that. The reason is the same
with answer 2. However, you can add some specific public folders that
are
frequently accessed to the Favorites folder under the node of the Public
folder. In this way, these folders under Favorites folder will build up
a
mirror on local workstation. And the number of unread entries will be
showed as inbox folder.

Additionally if you want to access the public folder frequently, you can
create a shortcut in Outlook. To do this:

(1) Click Tools menu -> Options -> Other tab -> Navigation Pane Options.
(2) Select Shortcuts check box.
(3) Locate Shortcut in the Navigation Pane, and we can create a new
shortcut for a public folder there.

Some questions relating to a new installation of SBS2003 Prem SP1

1) Mail icon wrong in public folder apllied the registry fix (IPM.NOTE
