Hello Lee,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I understand that you have enabled My Document folder redirection in SBS
2K3 Domain. Now you want to configure to synchronize offline files when
boss is in domain, but not to synchronize the offline files when he is at
the remote side. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
Based on my research, there is no natively method to do so. This is because
when you use the cached credential to log in/off computer, the computer
will keep trying to contact the DC and synchronizing offline files. This
issue may need further development in Group Policy. I suggest that Please
redirect him to CSS and MSDN NG.
I suggest you that contact our PSS or MSDN for support.
To contact Microsoft Product Support Services via telephone for a better
solution and a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request.
Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a
look at the web site listed below.

You also can post you questions in the Developer newsgroups. The issues
include custom coding/programming, scripting, design/implementation type of
issues would best be addressed in the Developer newsgroups. I have provided
the link below to access Developer newsgroups. By posting here, you may get
some pointers from others who may have had similar experience that they can
share with you.

Having said so, I also have discussed your issue with colleagues, and here
is a workaround for your reference:
a. Open this particularly user's computer.
b. Go to Start -> Run "gpedit.msc' (without quotation marks).
c. Expand to Local Computer Policy\User Configuration\Administrative
Templates\Network\Offline Files.
d. On the right pane, double click "Synchronize all offline files when
logging on".
e. On the Setting tab, select Disabled, and click OK.
f. Double click "Synchronize all offline files before logging off".
g. On the Setting tab, select Disabled, and click OK.
h. Go to Start -> Run "gpupdate /force" (without quotation marks).
However, when you bring back this computer or laptop back to domain, these
two configurations may be covered by the Domain Policy. So when you bring
this computer or laptop out of domain in the next time, you need to
manually run the steps above again.
Thanks a lot for your time and understanding!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee

We have our users My Documents folders being redirected to the server with
offline files since almost everyone in our office has a laptop.
Everything is working fine except for my boss who is on the road 90% of
time.up
In his case we are wondering if it would better for him if we set things
in reverse. He wouldn't use offline files on the road and would use hisMy
Documents folder like he did before we redirected the folders. Then when
he's in the office he can manually sync up with the server.
Is there an easy way to do this for one user?
