Clients cannot find sharepoint

I have a new SBS2003 SP1 premium installation. ISA is setup with two NICs
and I haven't made any changes to ISA. The client machines (only 2 so far)
use DHCP and are able to reach the //server website and when I added the
firewall client can connect to any Internet sites. The client machines point
to the SBS internal IP for DNS and gateway.

I can open the http://companyweb site on the SBS. When I try to open
http://companyweb on a client IE gives a "cannot find server or DNS error".
I can browse to //server and open RWW , connect computer or information and
answers.

As a test I added an entry of <server IP> companyweb to the hosts file and
IE was then able to open the sharepoint site. So it seems like a DNS issue
but I don't know where to look.

Any suggestions appreciated.
