Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Thats exactly what it was. SAV was screwing me up.

Found out by accident and finally came back to check for new posts and yep,
you were dead on.

And make sure whatever filespace A/V product you have is not scanning the
exchange databases or logsfiles.

Exchange is a pretty noisy logger of its activities, so if you don't see
anything in your app and system logs, you're probably OK. Of course, if
that's coupled with a lack of symptoms or user complaints. Also, a
number of maintenance operations are performed overnight, so check for
errors again in the morning. Lastly, a successful online backup is
another indicator of healthy databases.

If you still have that PST with the data not merged into Exchange, you
could try just opening the PST in Outlook to see if it opens normally and
what it contains. There's a utility called Inbox Repair Tool that you
could run against the PST to check it for errors. If it's not on your
Start menu somewhere, search program files for "scanpst.exe" on a desktop
with Outlook installed. You might be able to drag small quantities of
items from the PST to the mailbox folders, say 50-100 at a time.

Okay, I got the NTBACKUP to restore the DB ok and everything is working,
for now.

How do I check and make sure that everything is on the up and up and
working properly?

(I have all of the data still in the .pst folders. Is there a way to
just clear this DB and start from scratch?)

I used ExMerge to add a bunch of .pst files to the server. It seemed
as if everything went okay with th exception of a few mailboxes.
However, after the merge, the Mailbox Store and Public Folder Store in
Firest Storage Group became unmounted. When I tried to remount I got
the following error:

An internal processing error has occured. Try restarting the Exchange
System Manager or the Microsoft Exchange INformation Store service, or
both. Examine the APplication Log for events related to this error.
The description fields of these events will contain specific error
codes and may contain linkes to Microsoft Knowledgebase articles on
troubleshooting this problem.

Okay, so I tried restarting both services and I get the same error.
The application log gives me the following errors...

I tried using NTBACKUP to restore my DB. That failed every time. So,
I went to run a repair using eseutil. I did the /p and it went through
and then did /d and that went through. I also ran isinteg -s
server -fix -test alltests . This turned up 0 errors. Then, the
stores were mountable again! Yey.

Except, I tried to add data from one of the failed mailboxes back in
(this time in Outlook using the import/export wizard). As soon as that
finished, the storage group became unmounted. I have tried all of the
previous stuff except now isinteg errors out on me and I can not
re-mount the store.

I have all of the data still in the .pst folders. Is there a way to
just clear this DB and start from scratch?
