To the Windows firewall question, you can configure the Windows firewall
settings of the group policy. You can refer to the following steps to
configure:
1. Locate the Default Domain Policy (Server Management console -> Advanced
Management -> Group Policy Management -> Forests -> Domains ->
yourserverdomain -> Group policy Objects -> Default Domain Policy)
2. Right click it to choose Edit to open Group Policy Object Editor,
locate Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Network/Network-
Connections/Windows Firewall/Domain Profile
- Windows Firewall: Define program exceptions
- Windows Firewall: Define port exceptions
3. Then add ports you want to open in Define port exceptions list.

Hi Jenny et. al,
Thanks to your input. Unfortunately you are half correct in the
interpretation of my question. It is actually when I join any
workstation to a domain, the fact that i mentioned another domain was
that I came across this same issue on another SBS 2003 server doamin as
well -not that I was trying to re-join a doamin.
It happens every now and then when I try to join a workstation to a
domain for the first time via the \\SERVERNAME\ConnectComputer wizard
via the web browser from that PC trying to join the domain. Somewhere
on that PC is a setting or group of security setting(s) that is
preventing the SBS 2003 server from migrating the user profile over to
it's new profile once it has joined the doamin and logged on as that
profile.
I hope this clairies things a little more. Your comments may still be
valid for this new explainantion too anyway?
I'll let you decide -many thanks.

Hi,
I have recently experienced a fvew issues while trying to join Windows
XP Pro laptops / desktops to different domains at different client
sites. When I select the profile to migrate over it complains about
Hidden files / shares etc as if the user has made his or her My
Documents private and therefore 'access denied' when someone else logs
onto to their profile and tries to access these files.
This is perfectly understandable, but there are NO hidden or private
file shares etc on these desktops?! I end up having to use the
Administrator account or no accounts to migrate over instead (not
ideal).
Can anyone please advise me if their is something i am missing here?
have evenn tried to disable Simple File sharing and that doesn't work
either.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks
