Kimmy,
I have not re-read this entire thread (can you blame me?), but have you
actually checked to see if the ISP DNS IP addresses are working DNS servers?
What happens if you remove the ISP DNS servers and just use root hints?
Remove the ISP DNS servers, then follow this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298148/en-us to remove the "dot" zone if it
exists.
What are you ISP's DNS server IP addresses.

Okay, so this is where I am at...
Can't send email or view web pages. But this is what I have done.
First, I was told I had to try another router? Anyway, I changed the
router
to a Linksys Wireless G Broadband. They changed their minds and would like
wireless connections for visiting laptops. Whatever, so I re-did
everything,
with the internet wizard setup- all went well with no errors. Then I read
and
followed this post..
"It sounds like there is not a reverse lookup zone for your internal
subnet
and/or the clients/servers aren't registering into it. By default, there
should be a reverse lookup zone defined in the SBS Server's DNS for your
private address range of the internal network. If it is there, then
check
in the Properties of the zone to ensure that it is allowing secure dynamic
updates. If the server itself is not registered in the zone, then from a
command prompt run ipconfig /registerdns and wait a minute or two to see
if the registrations occur. If they don't then you'll need to verify that
the server is pointing to itself for DNS, the DHCP client service is
running, and that the internal interface is set to register into DNS."
Okay so my settings in the reverse were not allowing secure dynamic
updates.
I changed that.
When I run nslookup now from both the client and the SBS this is what I
get
Default Server: me-ser-1.muellerelectric.local
Address: 192.168.16.2
when I type www.microsoft.com
I get DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds.
request to me-ser-1.muellerelectric.local timed-out

You can send it from the laptop, not? The server shouldn't have an email
client on it, does it? Unless you're thinking of OWA. And, don't forget
to
remove the DEL and dot from my email address ;-).

Okay, if the DNS isn't working what are the odds my email is? I'll try
and
send you an email from the server.
"Les Connor [SBS Community Member - SBS M" wrote:
So, do you have both muellerelectric and muellerelectrical shown in
your
IPCONFIG? Not sure what the significance is, but we may as well know.
Look at Start/Administrative Tools/DNS and then right click on the
servername and select Properties.
On the interfaces tab - Is the server configured to only listen on the
192.168.16.2 IP address?
If not then you may need to configure it to only listen on the .2
address,
then ok out of that dialog.
On the forwarders tab, what is listed there?
Right click on the server name again in the DNS mmc and select clear
cache.
From a command prompt, run ipconfig /flushdns
From a command prompt, run nslookup - what is the result
At the nslookup prompt - type www.microsoft.com - what is the result?
Regarding the IP address - email me your public IP address and/or
domain
name and I'll see if anything is listening for remote connections.

Which one is correct? - muellerelectric or muellerelectrical?
This could be a typo. So, don't type the ipconfig. Post a new
ipconfig
/all
from the server.
from a command prompt on the server > ipconfig /all <enter>
then use the dos box menu to select the text, copy/paste it into
the
newsgroup post.

So it's down to DNS resolution ....
What happens if you go to http://companyweb from the server
console,
or
any workstation?
What happens if you ping companyweb?
How about sending me a public IP via email?

okay, I got it to run cleanly, but still the same result.
www.google.com
gives me page can't be displayed, but 65.98.45.220 loads.
Please don't give up on me just yet. I 'd make the call to
Microsoft,
but
then I know I'd have to foot the bill and not the customer. the
last
157
hours of time in would be down the hole.
"Les Connor [SBS Community Member - SBS M" wrote:
The solution most likely lies in getting the CEICW to run
cleanly.
There's
not much hope if it doesn't.
With two nics and a router, you have a full time broadband
connection -
and
that is what must be selected in CEICW, and CEICW must run
cleanly
with
that
selection.
Go to c:\program files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\support
and
find the icwlog.txt. Rename it to icwlog.old, and then re-run
the
CEICW,
seleting full time broadband connection. Make sure you elect to
set
up
the
firewall.
If you get errors, then go back to the icwlog.txt, and
copy/paste
it
here
(or attach it to a message).
If you're tired of this thread (I would be) - then call
Microsoft
Customer
Support, pay the money, and it will be fixed.
I'd offer to remotely access your system to fix this, but I
seriously
doubt
that's possible. But if you want me to confirm that - send me
an
with
your public ip address.

Yes I did, but the first time it came up with network config
error,
second
time it failed at the firewall, and this last time it failed
at
config... (I had it orginally set to use pop3 connector and
exchange..
Checked the DCHP services(client/server) and both are set to
auto
start
and
both were running. I still can't open i.e and type address
www.dnslookup.com,
but I still can type in the ip , 65.98.45.220 and have the
site
load.
Double
check the router as well and unless I missed a firewall
setting
on
it,
it
looks right. I plug a laptop into and I can connect with no
problems.
But is it normal, to open the DHCP service console, and it
shows
not
connected, until I click on the server name? Then it states
that
it
is
running. Close the console and reopen, it shows again not
connected.
Thats
seems a little strange, in the services it shows both running
and
in
the
event logs, it shows where it started fine.
Anyway the Server Ipconfig /all is this...

I checked the router, I am running a laptop off of it so I

It
is
working fine. I wish I could get someone in but I in the

Also, it might be a good time to go to the router's
