RE: Move Companyweb to member server 2003

Thank you for response Jenny.
I need to clarify more. On our internet site we have a simple username and
password login box; I would like for our clients and employees to login by
typing their username, with no domain, and their password. Now, realize that
our Companyweb is on the SBS box and the login screen is on our Webserver
box, there seems to be an issue with getting the credentials passed between
the servers.
The webserver is not a backup domain server, nor anything else (ie DNS,
WINS, etc).
Once they are logged in I would like for them to be able to go to resources
(files, folders, etc) which are housed on both servers.
Is it possible to accomplish what I ask?
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,.
Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup!
I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that

greatly appreciated!
From your description, I understand that you want to know if the Companyweb
site can be moved to member server or if the companyweb site can be
published to internet. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me
know.
It is not support that moving the Companyweb site to other member server.
Since the Companyweb site is integrated with the SBS server.
To publish the Companyweb site to internet, we need Run CEICW
(Configuration E-mail and Internet Connection wizard) to open related ports
in firewall (80,443,444)
*Note: If you have installed any hardware firewall or router outside the
network, you need manually open related ports (80, 443,444) on the hardware
firewall or router.
1. Expand Standard Management | To Do List.
2. Click Connect to the Internet in the right pane.
3. Navigate the wizard to Firewall and then select Enable firewall. In the
next page, make sure items you want to publish services are checked in
services configuration page.
4. Click Next and then select Allow access to the following web site
services from the internet.
5. Make sure Windows Sharepoint Services Intranet site is selected and
click Next.
6. Click Create a new Web services certificate (input your FQDN as the web
server certificate) and then click Next.
7. Following the wizard to finish it.
And then the users can access the Companyweb using URL:
https://publicFQDN:444.
It is recommended you take a look at the following KB article to get detail
steps to configure network connection:
825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763
Additionally, it is not recommended we open too many ports in the router
since it is very insecure to our network. Generally, we open the ports we
needed to allow some specific traffic. You can refer to the following list:
TCP port Definition
25 Email (SMTP)
80 required for HTTP
requests for your site
443 required for HTTPS
requests using SSL, which secures communications from your server and a Web
browser
444 Companyweb
4125 Remote Web Workplace
1723 (plus GRE Protocol 47) VPN
3389 Terminal Services
21 FTP
Hope above information helps! I am happy to be of assistance to you and
look forward to your reply!
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu

I have SBS2003 network with 2 member Server 2003's, one is Webserver
a few domains (separate IPs) and the other takes care of backups.there
I would like to make a login for our employees/clients on our internet
website. This however seems to be more complicated than I thought.
I would like to know if you can move the Companyweb to a member server in
order to simplify this task; Or maybe that is not necessary, but rather
is a better way to accomplish this task.
I appreciate any help I can get - Many humble thanks
Paul
