Okay I changed the DNS Server on my nic to that ip of my internal nic and
allowed it to auto get ip from dhcp service (router), No connection to net
from server. so it is now changed back to auto everything from the router,
but these are the only setting in the nic
Even all this, I don't understand why the client machines cant connect to
the server. They can go one day with out internet, but i gotta have them
connect by am.

If the existing IP is 192.168.1.103/24 (note /24 is just shorthand for
255.255.255.0) and your 'external' interface is 192.168.0.100/24 then
subnets which could be used would be 192.168.X.Y/24 where X is anything from
2 to 255 (ie. anything but 0 or 1) and Y can be anything you like. I
normally use 2 for Y.

192.168.0.0-255/24 is a subnet.
192.168.1.0-255/24 is a subnet.
192.168.2.0-255/24 is a subnet.
....
192.168.255.0-255/24 is a subnet.

When you run the Change server ip, is it okay to leave the subnet mask the

did all that and no go... no internet connection from the server. the

way for the internet to work on the server is to have the dhcp services
running on the router. And I dod have it for both internal internet

and it also supplies internet to a rental/ conference room. This is hard
because I also have a static ip from the ISP to put somewhere, and have

All adapters bound to dhcp adressess can not be released

dchp server can not be found

so that didn't work. I have tried to use the change server ip wizard, but
either i'm missing a step or it don't work.

On the router...
Turn off the DHCP service (unless you have a real need for it for
devices that are directly attached to the router, like visiting laptops

you do not want on your SBS network but who need Internet access )

On the external NIC (192.168.0.100) in the SBS server...
DHCP: set to Disabled
IP address: manually assign a static (private) IP address
(192.168.0.100)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: set to 192.168.0.1 (the LAN side of the router)
DNS server to: set to 192.168.1.103 (your SBS server internal NIC)

On the SBS server...
Re-run CEICW, enable the firewall, make selections and enter your
ISP's
DNS nameservers as "Fowarders" on the appropriate screen (don't use UPNP
if
it offers, "forward" the required ports manually in the router)

Then on a client workstation(s)... (shouldn't require a reboot, but
wouldn't
hurt after you do these next steps)
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
Re-run ipconfig /all to make sure you're picking up a 192.168.1.x
IP
address on the workstation

connect. No internet access either.

Okay so back at the server -no internet connection but can see

internal
website. The external nic is set to auto get ip from router, but
the
primary
dns is the ip address of the local nic. When I change that to
the
ip
of
the
router I can get internet on the server. Ran the CEICW... doh!
The
wizard
poped up with that the router is a plug in play and it wanted to
configure
it. Now everything is so totally messed.
I cant get any clients to log in but when i set the ip on the
external
nic
back to the router ip, I can reach the remote server login page
on
my
laptop.
