Re: Store.exe process is allocating more memory

That is simply an alert, no big deal unless your server is having
performance issues. The problem has to do with how exchange reports memory
(it changed in SP1). I agree that Hot Fix 843539 shouldn't be done as
you've already done SP2. I would say you should manually change the
monitoring thresholds.

In the SBS console, select monitoring and reporting->change
thresholds->Performance counters->Select Store.exe and take note of the
counter average. Add say 20% to this value and set it as a threshold. SBS
will then only alert you if it goes above this new value.

In the task manager what it store.exe using for RAM and how much does your
server have?

This is the error that I am receiving, I receive the notification at least
once daily, and it is my only critical event in my logs.

Alert on server at 2/20/2006 3:46:15 PM

The store.exe process is allocating more memory than usual.

Check to see if you are having problems with e-mail. If so, stop and then
restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service.

You can disable this alert or change its threshold by using the Change
Alert
Notifications task in the Server Management Monitoring and Reporting
taskpad.

Service packs are cumulative, you only install the latest SP. Store is
supposed to grab lots of memory by design (it gives it back as needed)
Can
you detail what you are seeing -- are you simply getting alert messages
like
this:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A large amount of memory is committed to applications and processes.
Consistently high memory usage can cause performance problems.

To determine which processes and applications are using the most
memory, use Task Manager. Monitor the activity of these resources over
a few days. If they continue to use a high level of memory and are
less critical processes or services, try stopping and then restarting
them.

You can disable this alert or change its threshold by using the Change
Alert Notifications task in the Server Management Monitoring and
Reporting taskpad."

If so, then I think you simply need to tune your thresholds. Maybe
provide
some info on your server and what numbers you are seeing and the group
can
let you know if they are normal.

Hello,
I mistakenly installed Exchange SP2 without first installing Exchange
SP1.
On searching various newsgroups and Microsoft, I find that I should
have
installed SP1 and then Hot Fix 843539 to fix the above mentioned error.
Now when trying to install the hot fix it tells me I can't because I
don't
have SP1 installed, and everything I've read says that I cannot
un-install
a
service pack.
How can I fix the "store.exe process error"?
Thanks in advance for your ideas.
Pam
