I would like to, but the client doesn't have a static IP and no way for
remote users (2/3 of their users) to ocnnect in. If I pull the email in to
thru a pop3 connector to their SBS box, the remote usres won't be able to
get their email.
Their plans are, eventually, to pull their email/dns/etc. in house, to have
vpn connections, etc. They just aren't there yet. Until then, I've been
trying to get their email in for them.
I have half of the inhouse clients working, but some are just not
configuring the way the other half did. Very frustrating.
Believe me, I've installed 100's of sbs boxes and pulled email in house. I
prefer their own mx record, etc.
If someone knows some secrets for sticking with the ISP, I'd love some
hints. Thanks.

Hi Marcia,
Why are you reluctant to use the POP3 Connector and Exchange? It's much
better (and less problematic) if you use SBS the way it was designed.

Hi! OK....I made a PSS and we got the pop3 connector set up. I'm having
a hard time getting the clients to work...half do half don't. Is there a
kb article that explains this. I've never had a client with SBS that
didn't want to use Exchange.
They just need their email to go to the workstation--not be placed in
exchange--incoming being pop3.myisp.com and outgoing being smtp.myisp.com
where myisp.com is totally different than their domain.
Any further help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

is all the pop3 mail coming from the same place?
If so, set up the POP3 connector in Exchange.
Re-Run the CEICW and that will take care of ISA for you

Hi! It's been along time since I've posted or read here. Still all
the same people though.
I have a client who upgraded from SBS 4.5 (remember that) to SBS2k3
Prem. All went well except for their email, didn't do exchange, not
inhouse yet,....is through an ISP--not the same as their T1 link. I
see the traffice being blocked by "Default rule" in ISA 2004. Default
rule is set to deny all. This means, to me, that I don't have the
right rule to Allow "pop3 in/smtp out" email. How do I go about doing
this?
Thanks so much.
