Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi Jonathan Davey,

Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.

From your description, I understand the issue to be: you can not access the
Companyweb site in LAN. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me
know.

As you known, the Default web site and Companyweb both listening on TCP 80
port. however the Companyweb uses host header to work. You can check as
below

1. Open IIS console, locate the node Companyweb and right click it to open
its properties page.
2. under Web Site tab, click Advanced button, you will find two entries
listed as host header of the Companyweb: Companyweb,
companyweb.domainname.local

To trouble shoot the companyweb site issue, please help me collect some
information to isolate the issue:

1. What is the exact error message you received when try to access the
companyweb site using URL: http://companyweb.

2. Please try to run command "ping companyweb" (no quotation marks) on the
SBS server box, what is the output? Please paste the result here.

3. Have you installed ISA on the server box?

I appreciate your time! I am happy to be of assistance to you and look
forward to your reply!

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

How does SBS configure port 80 in IIS to allow a default VS and a
"CompanyWeb" VS's both on port 80?

Theres no host headers, so how does it work?

I only ask because suddenly I cant browse locally to http://companyweb but
I
can http://mydomain/remote/companyweb and have in the past experience a
problem when creating VS's in IIS with an error that port 80 is already in
use.
