hi chris
external nic is plugged into the cable modem directly
then internal is plugged into a switch along with all the client pcs.
what is weird is dhcp shows in services as running , but no sign of it in
all programs etc..
question, if i just ordered this package from dell.. shouldnt i have receivd
isa 2004 not isa 2000 ?
"Cris Hanna (SBS-MVP)" wrote:
in addition the DNS of the external nic is incorrect.
it should only contain the IP address of the internal nic
And then re-run CEICW and of course DHCP needs to be installed
You do have the internal nic of the server and the workstations plugged
into their own switch and the cable modem is not plugged into that switch,
right??

Hmmm... sounds like the DHCP service was never installed on the SBS
server. Not sure why. You should be able to manually install and
configure it. Then re-run CEICW.

So you have a straight cable modem and not a modem-router?
Can you post an ipconfig /all for the SBS server?
And your network is set up per the following diagram?

Internal Clients Cannot Obtain a DHCP Address from ISA Server Running
DHCP
Problem: Internal clients cannot obtain a DHCP address. The DHCP
server
is
located with ISA Server.
Cause: The Internal network object does not include the broadcast
address
from the Internal network IP address range.
Solution: Add the broadcast address to the Internal network
definition.
Ensure that there is a protocol and rule allowing DHCP requests and
replies
for the Local Host and Internal networks. For more information about
