Also, make sure the wired NIC is enabled (and maybe disable the wireless
NIC) in Device Manager on the laptop.
Does the laptop problem go away if you set a static IP address, Subnet Mask
and Gateway in the TCP/IP settings of the laptop?
I assume this is a built-in wired NIC and not a USB NIC.

Mike,
Why are you adding this visitor to your domain if he only needs Internet
access? From your last posts, you are not running ISA on your server and
you only have a single NIC that is active in your SBS server. I presume
your router is actually providing DHCP service for your network.
Have you tested the Ethernet cable, jack, switch port and/or router port
for proper operation? If you plug the laptop directly into a port on the
router, can it acquire an IP address? Does he have a firewall on his
laptop? You might also try an
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

SBS 2003 Premium LAN.
A visitor with an up-to-date Panasonic laptop needs access to the
internet. Got his computer name, added it through Server Manager, plugged
his laptop into the network -- but his NIC keeps trying to "acquire a
network address". I've tried settings for TCP/IP, etc. Ensured that a
DHCP address is available. Can't get it to stop. Been going on for
about 2 hours now. What can I try???
