First and foremost the patch, even with the system restored from Acronis,
will not install. It is on the task bar every time I reboot.
My system is updated regularly so I am up to date with service packs.
Also email is totally internal, this patch is for POP3 with Internet access.
I cannot be sure if it is the patch or a power outage we had last week here
in the NorthWest, but on the day the patch was "installed" the first time,
all my Scheduled Task failed to run", not only that I could not edit or
create a new task without an error message...see my post from yesterday on
"Task will not run".
A complete reinstall of the OS drive "C" with Acronis Server got things
working again.. I had no replies for help, so took it upon myself just to
recreate the drive image. I must say I was really disappointed in NTBackup,
as you are directed to run this in "Safe Mode" for a System Restore.. and I
can quarentee that if it was your only "restore" option you would be
hospitalized with an ulcer relying on it.

Issues with a patch are a free call.
If this is a pre sp1 box and you got offered up the Pop patch you need
to patch that little guy as you may send out a lot of email you didn't
count on.
What issue did this patch cause?

Russ,
The most recent patch is for POP3 servers in Exchange.
Tried the Manual and Automated. Patch hung everytime.
I would reboot and there it was again downloaded and
trying to be installed.
I finally gave up and did a C drive restore with Acronis
True Image Server. It worked great, and had the system
up and working in 15 minutes.
I have never had to use NTbackup to do a system state
restore. Is there a known issue with NTBackup hanging in
"Safe Mode"? From this experience NTBackup is not
reliable in an Emergency. At recommendations of an other
MVP I used NTBackup daily, and Acronis TI weekly. I
think I will switch to Acronis Daily alone.
Also since this whole problem came about because of the
MS Security patch, how does MS Tech deal with the issue?
While the forums are good, waiting 12 hours, and getting
no reply to your problems is not a solution. Will MS
waive the fee for support with a legal product and a
serious problem?
Thanks

Ok, Sorry you had to repost this.. :(
What patches? and have you tried to install them Manually?
Some like the SQL Desktop has to be Manually Installed.
Before restoring everything I'd see if patches update will work
Manual/Automatic..
A MS Tech May Have more for you to look at
(Other than Do a Complete Restore of server since you can't do system state
restore)
