RE: unable to ping server

I think that I have bad explained my problem. I wil retry. Sorry for my poor
English - I'm from Italy.
From outside of my LAN (example: at home) I can use any browser to accessthrough OWA my Exchange server. I type "mail.mydomain.it/exchange" and it
works fine.
Now, if i type the same line in the Internet Explorer of a PC connectected
directly at the SBS Server, I get an error. Every other type of surfing
(www.google.com) from this PC works fine.
Now, as described in the first post, I think that the problem is on the
server side. This, because if I make a telnet to mail.domain.it from the PC
connected to the SBS server I get connected to the ROUTER. If i type "telnet
mail.domain.it 25" from this PC I get an error "Impossible connect to
mail.domain.it".
But, if I type "telnet mail.domain.it 25" from outside the LAN (example:
from home) I get connected to my Exchange server.
I hope that this was more clearly. Of course, instead of "domain" I always
type my registered domain name.
Now to your (clearly, thanks) instructions:
1. Was Ok
2. Was OK
3. Step 1: Point 9: it is not on the Internet Lan Card. Necessary?
Step 3: I have already 2 Active Directory zones, one named domain.local.
Do you think that I need one more?
4. Reading in the Summary it does not seem that the possible problems are
similar to my problem. The Internet access wizard was used through first-time
set up of Internet access.
Your other questions:
1. No way, tried several time activating or disactivanting some features
(like VPN)
2. see: (I do not how attach files)

Hi Bruno,.
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
From the description, I understand the issue to be: you can not access web
sites on your LAN of SBS and it works on external network. If I have
misunderstood your concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
To narrow down the problem, would you please help me confirm if you have
configured SBS as following?
1. Leave the Default Gateway of the internal NIC blank.
2. Configure both the internal NIC and the external NIC to use the internal
DNS Service as the DNS Server.
3. On the DNS Server, create the DNS Forwarder to forward the external DNS
resolution requests to the ISP's DNS server. See:
323380 How to configure DNS for Internet access in Windows Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=323380
4. Strictly followed the instructions in the KB article below to run CEICW:
825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763
If the problem still occurs, would you please help me collect the following
information?
1. Please try to rerun CEICW to test if it helps.
2. Attach ipconfig/all result on SBS and a client computer.
3. Do you have ISA installed on SBS?
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)

| I have an SBS 2003 Premium with SP 1 installed. Two network card's on
server,
| one for LAN, one for local.
|
| Now, if I try to ping from a PC to my static (public) adress, it does not
| respond the server, but the router. So, as example, if I try to use OWA
from
| outside my LAN (Internet Caffe) it works fine, from inside the LAN using
the
| same IP adress it does not work. My final problem is that with this
| configuration ActiveSync through Exchange Server does work only from
outside
| the LAN.
|
| Any idea?
|
| Thanks
