Just how do you make a trust in SBS2003? I've never been able to do that
and it was my understanding that once the AD setup was complete, it
wasn't going to happen. Since ADMT v3 requires the same, I can't see how
this is going to happen in the SBS world.

Please enlighten me on how to prep SBS2003 to run ADMT!

Reread his post. He doesn't need Transition pack he is going to SBS not
from. And ADMT is designed to go from 2000 to SBS 2003

AFAIK.

Recent ADMT Inter-forest migration with a netbios name change and 2 SQL
server based applications seemed to have gone pretty smoothly though
(surprised me!).
If not a sbsmigration.com or like methode, I think your options are a
"Transition Pack" upgrade off of SBS, or a ldifde object export/import
into a new domain and forest.

Single place Domain names are a problem and RENDOM is a nightmare.
Maybe some others have some advice to offer but I think you would be
best to do the migration part with ADMT which forces the DOMAIN name
change. I don't know what to tell you on the SQL and WEB downtime
though. This is going to take some serious planning beyond the scope
of my experience. I will ask some others to look at this thread.

been to SBSMigration.com already and it does look good but don't

have access to a temp server to use in the process to do a full
swing.

As mentioned I guess my main concern is having the least downtime on
the SQL/Web servers. Would the keep the domain name and transfer the
FSMO roles across (stop at CD1), keep the same user rights etc so our
SQL server wouldn't freak out and start to block users internally or
the web server?

Our DC is pretty much just doing that now as everything else has been
transferred off it so change of name isn't issue.

Is there any issue with having a domain as "DOMAIN" and not
"DOMAIN.local" ?
