Hard to descript exactly my problem...
AD: Windows SBS 2003
Client: most Windows XP SP2 (Pro and joint to domain)
only one has problem (PC1) to connecting another one of the shared printer
(\\PC2\Printer)
And this problem only occur login "user11" in PC1. I can connect the
\\PC2\Printer by login another domain user or domain administrator. The
error message is in "Traditional Chinese" and means like... "Authancation
problem to PC2"
Finally I connect it as \\192.168.1.102\Printer to fix. We both set DNS as
the WSBS2003 already! Oh man...
Thanks anyway!

Hi David,and
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
From the description, I understand the issue to be: A client computer can
not add the printer which attached on other client computer. If I have
misunderstood your concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Firstly please check if you have configured right permissions for the
shared printer for the user account.
I also provide the following steps of sharing printer for your reference:
To share a printer from a domain PC
=================
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware,
then click Printers and Faxes.has
2. Right-click the printer you want to share, and then click Sharing.
3. On the Sharing tab, click Share this printer and then type a share name
for the shared printer.
4. If you share the printer with users on different hardware or different
operating systems, click Additional Drivers. Click the environment and
operating system for the other computers, and then click OK to install the
additional drivers.
Drivers for users running other versions of Windows (Windows 95, Windows
98, or Windows NT 4.0) are located on the Support CD. Printer drivers for
Windows NT 3.1 and Windows NT 3.5 are not included.
5. Click Security tab, make sure NETWORK and other accounts (if needed)
print permission.client?
To add a shared printer from another PCs
=================
Note: I assume the PCs are also using XP Pro SP2 system.
1. Open Printers and Faxes, and then click Add a printer.
2. Click Next, select "A network printer, or a printer attached to another
computer", and then click Next.
3. Select "Connect to this printer", and then type the UNC name
(\\pcname\printershare) of the shared printer, click Next.
4. If you are prompted to type user name and password, input the domain
PC's local administrator's name and password, select "Remember my
password", and then click OK.
If the issue still occurs, would you please help collect the following
information for troubleshooting?
1. Is there any difference between normal client and the problematic
2. Does the situation only occur on one computer?the
3. Can you use the worked account to add the printer on the problematic
client computer?
4. Disable Windows Firewall on the problematic computer to see how thing
goes.
5. Can you ping the client computer which has printer from the problematic
client computer?
6. What is the detailed error message you receive when you add the printer
on the problematic client computer?
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)
